I find that my guitar looks a little bit quot;normalquot; and I 've been thinking really long about how to make it a little bit more special but I came up with nothing so I turn to you guys.... anyone have an idea to make my guitar a little bit more quot;fancyquot;?

Xssive will probably see this. He got some good ideas.

black guard, to start

what are you looking for? ... classy and distinctive?

some walnut inlays in the body might be cool ... a few tasteful stripes? .. or some 'burn marks'? ....

edgy and wild? playful and humorous? .. maybe some stickers

good luck

Black pick guard poss white...how about nickel covered pickups on a white pick guard...or double creams on a black pick guard?

Look at that guard - it has seven screw holes. I thought Tele's were always either 5 or 8. Maybe that doesn't apply to knock-offs.

I actually like it the way it is. Maybe chrome/nickel covers for those pickups?

I actually think it looks pretty cool the way it is.

You could try getting some cool inlays on the neck or even the body.My friend got a dragon silhoette type thing on the body of his strat and it looks pretty damn cool.I think he just carved out the shape with a mini router thing, filled it with solder and then ran a soldering iron over it to melt it in.He probably had to sand it down and varnish it too though.Just a thought.

it has 7 holes because I bought it from someone who had it custom-made... so the pickguard is hand-made

@ lazer razer: do you have any idea how much that would cost? because I 'm not that handy

If you just want to do a really simple little design or something it really isn't that hard.Just practice a bit on a spare piece of wood first to make sure you can get it right.I've never seen a company that does custom body inlays but that doesn't mean they don't exist.Just check around a little and try projectguitar.com for some links.

There are plenty of company's that do custom paint jobs too if that's what you're after but i'm pretty sure that they're quite expensive.

Sorry i couldn't help more.

Is that hardware black or silver chrome? Maybe a white pearloid guard? Skull nobs?

Burn and stain?
I would stain the wood and replace the knobs and toggle and as much hardware as possible with wooden parts. Search ebay, there's tons of them. Knobs and stuff made of wood... THAT would look killer... then all you have to do is stain the body wood to match, or to contrast.

What about getting a clear pickgaurd? Just a few ideas... take from it what you will

Something that would be less quot;destructivequot; than a wood inlay but produce the same results from the stage, would be different tinted stains.

In other words, determine a pattern you like, then get a dark and light stains - sand the finish back (remove the clear pick guard first) mask the pattern and then apply the stains. Then a few coats of clear and it should be looking good. (It's bit more complicated than that - but not much)

Oh and put the clear pick guard back on - it looks good.

The neat thing about this method - if you don't like it, you can sand it back and do something else.

Oh and what about wood knobs? Not sure where you can get them, but I've seen them and they look good.

Carry around a little carving tool amp; let ppl important to you carve you little messages or signatures.

black guard, nickle pickup covers, and some sort of odd fingerboard inlay/body paint/sticket ect.

Pimp that baby up! Get a set of chrome bezels, knobs, pickguard ofcourse. Buy a set of chrome bobbin toppers and that thing will be blinging like no other. I'm totally serious if my next guitar comes with chrome hardware (or doesn't) I'm totally going to do that

find some old cattle branding iron, get it red hot, and brand that beeyotch.

I think it looks great as is. I don't even like Teles. The burning sounds like a cool idea with the right design and capapble hands. I think the black hardware and natural wood go great together. My Jackson KV2 was like that.

...with a wooden pickguard too. I think that would look sweet.

Keep the pick guard (or send it to me if you don't like it :
Put a black StetsBar, uncommon to say the least
Add an arm and back countour, that would be cool on a tele-shaped guitar
Inlay or carve your favourite animal, figure, team symbol, picture of your wife
Carve all the way thru the guitar, make holes in it that let you see through the other side, but make them as sillouets, that would be cool.
Keep those dots, I like them
Add an extra hb in the middle, maybe a p90 or mini humbucker (as in gibson not as in hotrails)

These are just ideas, I actually like it as it is.
