Metallica, Samp;M, Outlaw Torn.....James' lead tone.....

To me, that tone is what lead guitar is all about. I've dialed in something similar before, but that one just killed anything I've come up with.

Too bad it's nearly midnight here. I'm going to have to some time tomorrow figuring that one out.

I just went back and listened to the song in it's entirety and I agree - that tone is really sweet. Big and aggressive, but still smooth and controlled. He also gets extra points for playing a bit of call and answer with the orch.

Speaking of lead tones, I just screwed around with alot of things like throwing a marshall jackhammer in my efx loop, and now I have the perfect Glenn (from judas priest) lead tone.Yay for good lead tones!
