Got the matchless 15 watt trannies in today before I left for the airport. Apparently these things are so over built that they kick out well over the 15 watts that are spec'd. Like 22 watts! This Franklin 15 is going to be one loud little 2xEL84 amp.
Got some little cool goodie things planned on this amp as well.
On the Aislinn, a lot of stuff will be waiting when I get back in town on Thursday. I'm hiring a Houston amp guru as a consultant to help me incorporate great tube reverb into the Tweed Circuit. This is going to be epic and the negotiations are going strong with a cabinet maker.
Different looks, per se. Sleeper amps. Amps that no one will have a clue as to how they are *supposed* to sound. But when you crank them up, heads are going to turn.
And, if no one buys one, I'll end up with two very awesome amps!
The blackface Brenna is on hold until I get the other two lined out and completely tested.
Oh, and I'm going to shock some of you with the prices (in a good way of course!)
Sounds good Scott_F. I cant wait for you to get them ready.
Sounds awesome, Scott. I get more and more excited with each update. You're going to have one of these sold before you get them finished if I'm not careful!!
BTW, if you need some extra labor, I'd be willing to send some Lemurs down there for a few weeks. They're not very good, but they work cheap.
come on scott, let's see them prices! No ballpark estimates?
I think you'll have people beating down your door before you can say bias!

I fainted when you told me about the JTM45, If thats true, that price is incredible. And ill definetely be looking to buy from you.
I think a Franklin head will be in my future, provided Scott will deal with me.

Tube reverb? Epic?
Now you're speaking my language!

I don't see how he can ballpark the price until he's actually built one 100%.
Scott, will these amps have some kind of footswitch control, even to mute the amp?
Can't wait to see one of them, sounds like a good start.
No footswitch at this point... yet. No gain monster at this point.
I'm actually getting myself a bit geeked up on this stuff. I do not know how it's going to work out, but I'm finding some excellent pricing on seriously good quality parts.
I'd love to give out some prices, but TO is right, gotta get them built and make sure I snake out any hidden costs I'm not factoring in. I should have the Franklin 15 built in the next few weeks. I'm really stoked on that amp. I loved my Bad Cat and it seems to me that a 2xEL84 matchless type amp is something that I just *need*. I'm going to try to build it with an EF86 front end and a model with the 12AX7 front end and see which sounds best.
Some other good ideas that keep coming to me. I'm going to have to invest in a device to punch some holes in the chassis' I'm buying in order to put in these ideas!
Oh well, time for bed.
if things go good on the interview my wife has today...i gotta feeling there's gonna be a fight for the first Franklin...LOL!!!
You're going to love this... I'm going to sell the first few of these at cost. I want to get them out and get some reviews. So, there will be rewards for the first few that place an order (once I come up with a price!)
That's mighty generous of you, Scott, but you may wanna tack on at least an additional 5% to the cost, to get yourself something nice; a couple of amp sales, even at cost, will then cover your labour as well as a soothing bottle of single malt.
