I have found a guitar with a walnut body and i have never before seen a guitar with this kind of wood.........What are the tonal caracteristics of walnut?......the owner of the guitar told me it is similar to mahogany is that true?

Hello to all, I purchased a Seth Lover bridge pickup to install into my Es333 and have had problems. The pickup sounds thin and buzzy and I can't figure out the problem. The original bridge pickup (uncovered 490r) sounds fine when selected alone, the Seth (covered) sounds as described, and both pickups selected is a mixture of bad and good. I have soldered and resoldered grounds, checked my wiring and that seems good as well. The volume pot measures within spec. I recently removed the pickup from the circuit, read the value (8.23k seems ok), and wired direct to the jack. It once again was thin and buzzy. As I lean the covered pole pieces toward the strings the fullness seems to increase but the buzz is still there.
Can I have a bad pickup even though the resistance reads fine? Does the mixture of covered and uncovered pickup create a problem. Does anybody have ideas or a solutions. The pickup sounds like a bad single coil, I expected it to sound more like a Burstbuker which is in a Les Paul I have.

OK, I think I am going to get a PRS. The funds are there. The wife is OK with it. I've got pickups to put in it.

I have read a lot recently about using a tone pot bypass. Has anyone done this and is it worth the effort? It seems you can wire the guitar so that the tone pot is out of the circuit while the tone pot is on 10. Basically, I assume this leaves no load on the pickup allowing the full tone of the pickup to come through un-hindered. Is this hype?

A stratocastor plugged into a good tube amp and DS-1 pedal may be all that you ever need....

Does anyone have comments or complaints on slim profile necks? What are the benifits of having a slim neck? I'm gonna buy an LP and you can buy a slim profile neck axe for the same price.

Hey guys. Right now, I have a Phat Cat bridge in my SG with the stock 500k pots (tone disconnected). I'm still using the 1000pf cap that I had on the volume pot when I was using humbuckers in the guitar, but with the Phat Cat, I'm getting WAY too much top end. I can EQ it out, but it makes it annoying to switch between this guitar and my other p-90 guitar, which is much darker. What cap could I try for the volume pot on the SG that would let me clean the sound up well as I turn the control down, but not be quite so bright? 800pf or something? THanks guys.

Ok, Im pretty sure about most of the parts Ill get, its basically a superstrat but tell me what you think. I was thinking about getting a northern hard ash body but does it matter if its a one or two piece? Id get a maple neck but I dont know whether to get a 1 piece or a maple with a maple fingerboard, I want whatever one would have a warmer sound. I think I should get schaller locking tuners. I think Ill get a fender reissue vintage style trem but I play some van halen stuff and I know that it will probably go out of tune a little but it shouldnt go out of tune too bad right? I can always tune a little while Im playing if it doesnt go out of tune too bad. Id use a paf style humbucker in for the bridge pickup and maybe some single coils for the neck and middle but Ill figure that out later. Ill probably just get one volume knob but either a 500k or a 1meg pot, what are the differences? Im not sure about what kind of nut to get so could you guys help me out with that? Ill probably get the gibson size frets. And theres some other hardware too like the neck plate and stuff but do different ones make the guitar sound different or could I just get some cheap ones? One more thing idk if it makes a difference or not but right now I play through a marshall jmp mastervolume head with a marshall tv cab with 25watt celestion greenback reissues but Im planning on getting a plexi type amp sometime in the future when I have more money to spend. Sorry this was so long but I was just hoping to get all my questions answered.
