Maiden Gear
This vidcap is taken from the Maiden England tour. What were the guitars and pickups used in both Smith's and Murray's axes at the time? This to me, was the pinnacle of Maiden tone!! I'd love to know how they got it.
Oh yeah, if anyone has any more pictures of these two guitars - please post!!

Caps for Phat Cat?
Hey guys. Right now, I have a Phat Cat bridge in my SG with the stock 500k pots (tone disconnected). I'm still using the 1000pf cap that I had on the volume pot when I was using humbuckers in the guitar, but with the Phat Cat, I'm getting WAY too much top end. I can EQ it out, but it makes it annoying to switch between this guitar and my other p-90 guitar, which is much darker. What cap could I try for the volume pot on the SG that would let me clean the sound up well as I turn the control down, but not be quite so bright? 800pf or something? THanks guys.

Valvetronix or podxt w/computer speakers
Hey guys I was looking up information on the vox Valvetronix amps and they look pretty good. I'm starting to think this would be a better option for my roommate than getting a podxt run on crappy computer speakers. Which do you guys think would be better for him? His not going to get a power amp for it so he'll not get any of the tube tones. I think the Valvetronix would be better as it has a speaker and it has a tube in it, 12ax7 so that would be easy to maint ain on your own without a tech. I know a few guys on the forum have these amps. Do you guys get the power amp overdriven tone when you crank it and how loud will it be once you reach that point? I'm thinking the 15watt one should be sufficient enough for him.

Building up strength
I've been playing for quite a few years, and don't practice nearly enough. I find that when I'm playing a repetative lick, or an extended jam that my hand and wrist on my left hand tire quickly. Any tips or exercises to improve strength and endurence?

Help me choose parts for my project strat
Ok, Im pretty sure about most of the parts Ill get, its basically a superstrat but tell me what you think. I was thinking about getting a northern hard ash body but does it matter if its a one or two piece? Id get a maple neck but I dont know whether to get a 1 piece or a maple with a maple fingerboard, I want whatever one would have a warmer sound. I think I should get schaller locking tuners. I think Ill get a fender reissue vintage style trem but I play some van halen stuff and I know that it will probably go out of tune a little but it shouldnt go out of tune too bad right? I can always tune a little while Im playing if it doesnt go out of tune too bad. Id use a paf style humbucker in for the bridge pickup and maybe some single coils for the neck and middle but Ill figure that out later. Ill probably just get one volume knob but either a 500k or a 1meg pot, what are the differences? Im not sure about what kind of nut to get so could you guys help me out with that? Ill probably get the gibson size frets. And theres some other hardware too like the neck plate and stuff but do different ones make the guitar sound different or could I just get some cheap ones? One more thing idk if it makes a difference or not but right now I play through a marshall jmp mastervolume head with a marshall tv cab with 25watt celestion greenback reissues but Im planning on getting a plexi type amp sometime in the future when I have more money to spend. Sorry this was so long but I was just hoping to get all my questions answered.

Coil-splitting Gibson 490r/t pups
My Jazz/JB Les Paul has the coils split and I'm starting to really like this feature. I also have a Gibson SG (490r/490t) and was wondering if anyone has heard theses pups in split mode. Any info is appreciated - thanks.

How old is my acoustic guitar?
I just came home from NY where I picked up this really sweet Yamaha FG 230 12-string acoustic guitar. The tag in the store said it was quot;70squot; and that's it. The serial number is 1483902, it's a red label Nippon Gakki guitar.

Differences between Strats and Teles?
Well, that is the question. I have a strat, but not a tele. Anyone who knows the differences in sound or playability, let me know. Why do most of the country players play teles when (it seems to me) strats can get a great single coil sound?

Do you think if EVH used his old gear...
...like his old slapped together Frankenstrat and Marshall, he'd sound like he did on the first coupla albums? Was listening to VH3 and then their debut, and the tone changes remarkably (I knew it had changed, but not THAT much...)
