Even tho i have XP, do i need to pay more to use ecxel?

No, you don't need to pay more money to use Excel. What exactly happens when
you try to enter data into a cell? Any error messages?
Do you have a trial version that is past the last date of use? I am sure
that you know if you bought excel/office or if it came as a trial version on
your pc? If you by XP mean the OS it had nothing to do with Excel

windows xp, you need to purchase it separately.
