Anyone here ever try the cheaper V AMp pedal? Striaght into a PA? I need something that I can play directly into the PA that's cheap enough to buy quickly.. I have a band that wants me to jam with them, but no amp to speak of.. I've been using a home amp behringer thing for recording at home, but I just bought a new Ibanez RG 550 with an edge trem and want to get some efffects, etc, to use since this cover band plays a ton of cover songs.. Any suggestions? I thought about the Tech 21 Tri Od, but it doesn't have delay and chorus and wah wah, so I thought that I'd get those in addition to the Tri od which I can go direct to the board with.. What ya think? Which delay pedal do you guys like? What wah wah? I'm thinking of the Morley Steve Vai version just because I love the idea of no pots to mess up and that you just step on it and it works.. What a genious idea.. Why didn't someone think of that a long time ago!

shielding a strat?
hey guys.......could you give me some simple shielding techniques to make my strat a tad quieter...... i know of that GuitarNuts site in which he has a very detailed process of sheilding a strat that involved wiring in capacitors and stuff........rather, id like to just find a simpler alternative that might help with a little bit of the noise, is there any techniques like that, are simple and not too time consuming?

Just made a closed back for my amp
... and what a difference it makes. It's a Marshall JCM 600 2x12 combo. It came stock with a half-back. Dad and I just fabricated the other half. It makes a world of difference. The amp is way tighter and more focused now. Sounds much much better. I encourage anyone with a half-back or open cab to try it, just to see the difference. The only concern I have is potential overheating problems. The 600 line has been known to get hot, and I just cut it's internal airflow dramatically. A fan may be in order if things get too toasty.

Playing with double jointed fingertips
I just noticed that my end of finger my joint goes both ways, so I can easily fret 2 strings at the same time without barring. It made me think about how stuff like barre chords are much easier for me to do and muting strings. I wondering you guys think I should play all chords normally with just fingertips or should I use my fingers to my advantage all the time when playing chords, so I need to use less fingers for chords?

New pickguard!
Picked up a new pickguard for my Strat off of Ebay. This will dress it up some since I just cut the original pickguard to fit my full-size JB in the bridge. It looks pretty haggard the way it is right now Lol. I've been looking to get a pearloid pg for a while now but just couldn't throw 25-40 dollars on one. Got it off ebay for 13 bucks so I'm excited.

How much to get frets sticking out the side of a neck filed down.
I've got a bass which has frets that are sticking out the side of the neck just a tiny tiny tiny bit (far less than 1 mm). The frets are made of stainless steel, and it's pretty uniform throughout the neck. I was wondering how much I could expect a repair guy to charge me to file this down, if any of you happened to know.

Pine as a guitar wood?
I've been looking around for a place to start my Tele project; primarily I've been looking at complete cheap copies, but I also checked eBay for bodies and came across several being offered in quot;Red Pinus.quot; I can't recall ever having sen or heard a guitar made of pine before. Is it possible that this soft, sappy wood could make a decent guitar?

Reorganized the pedalboard today.......PICS
I don't know how I survived so long with such a ratty and disorganized pedalboard. My power source used to be 5 or 6 AC adapters plugged into a powerstrip. Now my pedals are more securly fastened to my board and powered by a Voodoo Labs PP2!! It's so much cleaner and organized now!! I wish I had pics of it before the makeover.

Reviews for the Distortion and Invader
Hey what's up bros! A bit overdue, here're my reviews of the Duncans I recently bought:
Duncan Distortion [bridge] - A kick ass p/u for any kind of rock. It's really hot, and you can hear your signal being pushed harder and hotter through your amp. My caveat with it was that while it was a much hotter pickup, it didn't really make my tone crunchier, which is what I thought was looking for. So, instead of returning it, I moved it to the middle position, which will take us to the next review:
