hey, my good friend rrawwrr told me you can take 2 power tubes out if you have 4 and reduce the wattage by half...i believe him, but how do i do it correctly? Oh, and whats the advantage?
if you have a 4 power tube amp that runs in a push/pull configuration then you can pull either the inner two or outer two tubes. you wont exactly cut the wattage in half but it does reduce power. make sure you also change the impedance to half what it actually is.
youll cook tubes a little faster but many people do it
Yep I do it, I think some tone is sacrificed, but it does let me crank it harder.
I do it. Just make sure to half the impedance, as doing this will double the output impedance.
