I know the more wattage the more headroom yada yada yada. but does having more power tubes like 4 for example affect tone?
Let's just say that you have 2 amps with the same tone stacks, preamp circuits etc, but one has 50 watts and the other is 100. you turn the 50 watt amp up to 6, then you match its overdrive with the 100 watt version so they're both at around the same level of saturation.
Will the 4 power tube one sound more quot;open' and less compressed than the 2 power tube one? I like my tones more open and defined so to speak, so i guess the high power route would be beneficial.
