I've got a bass which has frets that are sticking out the side of the neck just a tiny tiny tiny bit (far less than 1 mm). The frets are made of stainless steel, and it's pretty uniform throughout the neck. I was wondering how much I could expect a repair guy to charge me to file this down, if any of you happened to know.

Thanks alot,
Jacob

First try humidifying your bass, sharp frets are usually a sign of dryness.
It varies from place to place,I've noticed that the places that charge a ton of money are either really good or totalcrap. The difference is in they way that they talk to you.If the person sounds like they're quoting magazines then avaoid them,if they talk to you in plain language and go through it step by step and offer some options, chances are that they are very good.
One tip to all:any place that gets offended if you ask to see some previous work,(unless you're a wanker about ti),is not worth dealing with.Odds are that you're best just to leave and go elsewhere.
