I just noticed that my end of finger my joint goes both ways, so I can easily fret 2 strings at the same time without barring. It made me think about how stuff like barre chords are much easier for me to do and muting strings. I wondering you guys think I should play all chords normally with just fingertips or should I use my fingers to my advantage all the time when playing chords, so I need to use less fingers for chords?

I don't see why there'd be a reason to not use your abnormality to your advantage.

My fingers do the same thing, so I ended up learning to play power chords with my index and pinky, barring the 5th and octave with my pinky.

I thought everyone could do that

I'm pretty sure most players can do that. I got myself out of that habbit by playing power chords using my third and fourth fingers on the 5th and octave, respectively. I found it put my hand in a better position to move out of the chord. Though, I still catch myself barring the 5th and octave with my ring finger.

well.. i play the root with my index and the 5th, octave and what's after that? with my pinky

I'm concerned on other types of chords, not just power chords as most people can do without being double jointed

you dont really need more than 4 fingers for any certain chord, ranging from all sorts of inversions and voicings. There is really no need to do the bent finger tip thing, i have scrawny extremely flexible 'pianist's' hands, but i have gotten in the habit of doing things properly.

If you listen really carefully, barre chords are a bit off in intonation in most cases because the 'belly' of the index finger applies nowhere near as much pressure, so those notes will be slightly flat compared to the other notes in the chord that are played with finger tips.
Over time, my ears have gotten very picky and i cringe whenever my guitar's tuning is even slightly off, or if the intonation is off when i change strings.
