What kind of player likes the screaming demon?
I see its a medium output pickup with a heavy metal name lol. What other styles of guitar playing would it be useful for? Would a blues or classic rock player like it? What kind of guitars like a screaming demon pickup?

Alnico 2 59?
How would that sound? I know that it would smooth out the tone a little, but what else? How would it compare to an A2P humbucker (is it true that an A2 Jazz sounds a lot like the A2P?)

Hi all,

What pickup should I get?
You guys seem to know everything about Duncans so I figure I might as well ask the most knowledgable. I'm only 21 and go to school and work, so I don't play live or anything. All I have right now is a Line 6 Flextone II (2x12) Combo. I primarily play metal/quot;punkquot; (whatever that means now) and hard music. My amp tends to be at times muddy (sounds kinda like someone through a wet towel over it) and really quot;woofyquot; during palm-muting (not the good kind of bass). I want something bright and smooth sounding, with enough output to produce really bright harmonics (pinch). Also really chunky and hard-hitting pam-muting. I had an LP with a JB and it sounded good but a lot of the time it sounded somewhat muddy and dull. I'm getting a Schecter (probably 006 Elite). I know I'm not going to get everything I want, but considering everything I said, what do you guys think would be my best bet? I know you are all mostly SD guys but I was considering possibly an EMG 85 too, just to throw that into the mix. Thanks guys.

New Tech 21 TM 300 Amplifier
I ordered a couple of these when they first came out. I sold one and have had the other one here in my shop for some time. I never really tried that hard to sell it but the time has come to clean house a bit. This unit is brand new in the factory box, never used. Tech 21 has done an upgrade to the footswitch since I bought this so whoever buys it would want to send the switch to Tech 21 and they will upgrade it for free to the latest spec.

Jol Dantzig quot;Guru tourquot; (Hamer content)
Well, I had the distinct pleasure of attending Mr. Dantzig's quot;Guru Tourquot; the other night here in St. Louis. Let me start off by saying that both Mr. Danztig and Mr. Frank Rindone were true gentlemen and it was a real pleasure to meet and speak with them both. They are both two of the most down to earth guys, and were very approachable and easy to talk to. Mr. Dantzig is very passionate about the guitars he makes and it was very obvious by the way he spoke and presented. He started off by recapping the history of Hamer guitars from the very beginnings all the way to the current shop in Connecticut. This was done in conjunction with a slide show illustrating everything from the humble beginnings in the Grassroots shop, to a ton of pics of the famous artists who have played and endorsed Hamer guitars over the years. Aside from a few technical difficulties with the head-set microphone, it went along very well and was very informative and entertaining. Next, we went through a bit of a Q amp; A. I got to ask a couple of questions and have them answered in a very thorough and complete manner. Again, very informative. At the end of the night, those of us who brought in our Hamer guitars, got to have the man himself sign them. I wrestled with the choice of which one to bring, but in the end I decided on my '01 Artist Kornia HB that my wife bought me (he said that she's a keeper!). Mr. Dantzig expressed his like for the top on my particular Artist and commented on how attractive the grain was, flamed chevron pattern Korina. I had him sign the control cavity plate as I thought that would be the best place (I'm not much one for writing on the finish of my guitars). Again, it was an amazing experience to hear him talk about something I love. It was nice to know that the man who makes the guitars of which I am so fond, is so passionate about his craft. It really puts something special on top of the whole thing. Thanks so much again to Mr. Dantzig and Mr. Rindone for a great night of great guitars. So, without further ado, PICS!!!

Fandango
I've always loved the Rev. Billy G's tone, of course, but never really paid attention to the tone on the live stuff from Fandango. The tunes were just old RnR stuff, and I prefered to hear ZZ Top play their own cool stuff. But just recently after years of listening to this album, I all of a sudden noticed the God-like tone the Rev has on the live stuff. OMFG! Any one know what he was using for that? The album has two pics, one of him with a V, and the other appears to be a LP, quite possibly Pearly? And Amps? Thanks y'all
