How loud should I play, and how long should it take? Thanks

So this really has been bothering me. Some guitars are more than the sum of their parts. This is usually the case with Fenders. That's not to say it isn't the case with LP's SG's 335's, and PRS' but they all start off using premium woods and parts.

Hey guys, does anyone have any reccomendations to get that great Floyd tone? I've seen Gilmour's rig diagram and so I was wondering what other's recommend in terms of trying to that tone. Everyone says start off with the EMG DG pickups and mid boost, and others say vintage sounding pickups are fine. Any other thoughts? Amps? Pedals?

I read a post the other day that really got me thinking...

Is it possible to use an eq pedal in front or in the effect loop of a cranked amp on negative db flat eq settings and by that acting as an attenuator? Or is it defeating it's purpose by running in front of the power amp and thus not really pushing the tubes hard, and if so, is there a way to use some kind of eq after power amp stage into the speaker?

So im in the market for an eight string bass. Iv been looking at different Deans wondering if anyone can tell me a little about them. Also is there anyother things i shoulc know about 8 strings and how easy is it to get strings?

Anyone tried this? I'm thinking of building a Tele from pre-fab parts. I just got a Lite Ash Strat (comes standard with Alnico II Pros) and I fell in love with the tone. (The ash body probably has as much to do with the tone as the pickups, but whatever; best sound I ever had).

I just called the guitarist for my band and offered to play bass instead of drums. We've had no success in finding a new permanent bass player.I can use a bass, but if I used my 7 string, then I might be able to do more interesting things.I love the idea of a charlie hunter 8 string. What would I need to do to my 7 string to use the lowest two notes of the E and A of a bass? It's tuned AEADGBE right now. The A string is an 80. The E string is a 52.

Can anyone imagine of a humbucker made of 2 hotrails? I think it is possible as far as size is concerned but is it technically possible?

I installed the ZW set, 85 in bridge, 81 in neck. Well they sound great but for some reason the output difference between the bridge and neck is very noticeable. The actual aoutput and loudness of the pickup is significantly lower and today at practice it was a big problem. Could it be the wiring or what? Ideas?

I have been checking them out but noticed they are made in japan. I was wondering if they are any good. I like the viper but am not sure about giving $1300 for a guitar made in japan.. So any info you can give me will help out alot.

I have an old Carvin 4X12 with 70 or 75 watt celestions. (or the carvin imitation P) I'm thinking about getting rid of it and getting a Mesa 2X12 with Vintage 30s and a closed back. Will I loose quot;somethingquot; by going the 2X12 route. Besides two less speakers P. Any opinions on 2X12 vs 4X12 in general? I really don't want a Mesa 4X12 because I don't need it, and its insanely heavy. (150 pounds) Any opinions or comments are welcome!
