Formentin Guitars
A local guy, Rob Formentin has been producing a load of axes but has stopped production recently. I heard that he has gone overseas to sell some of these to various asian countries. I played one today and it had the lowest action id ever played, sheoak body and maple/rosewood neck. Its shape is similar to that of a strat but has its own distinctive style. It was a custom made Aussie Battler with dimarzio pickups, gold gotoh hardware, fixed bridge and 24 fret neck.
I fell in love with it and i may buy it, ill post pictures on this thread if i do. Im also checking out another custom Formentin with a floyd rose trem and seymour duncan pickups in transparent blue finish. So whichever of these two i purchase, you will soon see on here.

Which of these three amps should I get?
Im deciding between either a late 70s Marshall JMP mastervolume, a plexi RI (1959SLP or 1987x), or a 1980s JCM800. I dont really know what I should choose so can you guys tell me some pros and cons of each. I like to play classic rock stuff and 80s hair metal. It doesnt really matter if its 50W or 100W because Ill probably get an attenuator anyway. I want something with good tone. My guitar teacher has a 78 master volume JMP and its a little on the bright side (which can be good for AC/DC kind of stuff but I dont think Id like it all the time) and idk if the JCM800s have good enough tone or not or if they can get good clean sounds. I kinda like that vintage stuff to so thats why I wasnt sure if the plexi RIs would get that sound but I think Im leaning towards the plexi RIs. Also I only have $1000 to spend and I already have a cab but I would prefer not to spend that much. So can you guys give me some of your input. Thanks.

Anyone Tried Both the Surfer bridge and Surfer Custom bridge?
I am in tone heaven with the Surfer neck and bridge. I have the Custom bridge in the guitar now (the slightly hotter one) and it sounds great but I am wondering how much of a difference installing the 'regular' Surfer bridge might make in terms of the bridge/middle position...maybe the regular pickup would make it sound mo' great to my ears.

Best floyd-equipped guitar for tone
Its time to retire my Ibanez S-series. I'm looking for a dual-humbucker, floyd-equipped guitar (doesn't have to be original floyd rose) for my whammy bar work. What do you guys think will have the best tone?

Guitarport: Yay or Nay?
Well, having just moved into an apartment I'm looking into a headphone capable practice amp. I was considering a Line 6 POD, as I've owned them before and know what they can do, but it looks like all the features I need and then some can be had via the Guitarport. So, GP owners, is it worth $100?

Neck pick up??? advise...
Hey everyone, I have an '86 Jackson SL-1 that I want to replace the neck p/u in....I have another guitar with a Dimarzio PAF Pro in the neck position which I absolutly love the sound of...my question is: is there a single coil size p/u that you can recommend that gets as close to the same sound as the PAF Pro...I have a SD C5 in the bridge right now..

Is 20 watts enough to drive a 4x12 cab?
More speakers allow greater quot;expressionquot; for a given amp right? And for better portability will 20 watts drive two 2x12 cabs?

Is it the older you get, you're less inclined to pointy axes?
Just noticed a wee trend and thought back to myself - at eighteen all I wanted was an Ibanez. 7 years later, I can't stand them.

Classifieds Site
I know many of us are always looking to grab or dump some gear. I know we have the trading post and all which is cool but I thought maybe a classifieds site where more focus could be placed on product transactions. If I am out of line by all means dump this post.
