I'm looking for one of the old school cans of Fast Fret before they changed over to the plastic containers which I seem to have an odd penchant for destroying.

direct mount back to standard mount?
I hope this makes sense. I bought some used Rio pickups and went to install them tonight and it appears that the screw holes for the adjustment screws and springs are not threaded meaning the standard Duncan and or Gibson screws drop right in the holes. Either these were stripped out or have no threads for direct mounting instead.
I vaguely recall someone posting a fix for this scenario, maybe using the right size nut glued to the base so the screw threads?

EMG 81 sounds too muddy... help?
Hi folks,
I've got a LTD Eclipse EC-1000 (Les Paul Type but thinner, neck and body mahogany, maple top) that's factory equipped with two EMG 81. Dry played, without amp on, the guitar is sounding quite well, it's loud and it's got lots of sustain... But compared to my other guitars for example Gibson Explorer (498/500T) it's sounding a bit too muddy, woofy and indifferent. I miss some more brightness, clarity, some more presence and bite in my distortion-sounds. I think normally an EMG 81 should sound like this by itself..., so maybe there are bad pots in?

DiMarzio X2N
I've had it in the guitar about half an hour now, so I'm reserving final judgement. It's unbelievably fat, especially on the high notes. Crazy harmonics, and loud as hell. It may be missing that whatever-it-is that typically makes me end up disliking DiMarzios. We'll see...

Fs/ft: Epipone dot in cherry
its An Epiphone dot with the Cherry finish (although it seems darker than Cherry to me). Pretty much Stock, Right now I've got different pickups in it, But I plan on Putting the stock pickups back in if It sells. It also doesn't have a Pickgaurd Right now, But I have a Pearloid epiphone dot/sheraton style pickgaurd laying around That I'll toss on it if ya want it.
Its a great guitar, One of the best epi dots I've played actully. The only reason I'm looking to sell it is, I got it as a gift in march of 2004 From My Ex-wife. So Now any time I look at it I think of her, and Its just annoying to have around. So Needless to say, it really Never gets played.

JSX or XXX??
Hey guys me again. Well since I'm not going SS anymore *whew* I was wondering if anyone had any experience with the JSX head? I've played the Peavey XXX head with my current guitar and absolutely loved the tone from it, I've heard that the JSX is like an upgraded version of the XXX does anyone know for sure? It's going to be a few months before I have the money to get the head and about 2 months before I can even go and try the JSX out(I live in Columbus where the music stores suck so I have to drive to Atlanta). Any info. on the JSX would be much appreciated. Thanks again.

Please help! Trying 2 find single coil neck pickup that will sound good with my sh-8
I have a custom fender cyclone. w/ a Floyd Rose pro tremelo. I replaced everything except for the body (which is a alder body) and the neck (which is a maple neck). I replaced the stock pickups with a seymour duncan single coil little 59er for the neck and a seymour duncan sh-8 invader for the bridge. My problem is I hate the sound of the little 59er it sounds really muddy. I love the sh-8's distorted sound but not a fan of the sh-8's clean sound. I would like to find a single coil pickup for the neck that has a great crisp clean sound that won't sound extremely weird while toggling back and forth. I know I'm in bit of a bind because the sh-8 is so hot but I really love the way it sounds. What I am trying to do is use a neck pickup for the clean and the sh-8 bridge for the dirty. If anyone has any suggestions please email me @ patientgoines@hotmail.com

Tele neck pocket layout?
Anybody have a good drawing of a tele neck pocket? In particular, I need to know the radius of the corners, i.e. how small a router bit do I need to route the pocket?

Help/Suggestions for a Kelly
I'm an old school creature of habit and I've never used Duncan Pickups, but I'm ready to take the plunge. For the last 20 years I've mainly used a competitor's Super Distortion and various pickups from gibson.

Need help on setup of Les Paul..
This is a looong shot but here we go. I have a set of 10-60 Strings that im gonna put on and swap PICKUPS in the process. While im a fan of a Lower tuning A, B......I LOVE STANDARD E. So my question is can someone give me some tips on how to set up a Les Paul to handle these 60 gauge strings without going to a luthier? When talk of cutting the nut and adjusting the saddle im getting a little lost...tried looking at the library for something to help me, but to no avail nothing.

anyone judge a pup by it's quot;FEELquot;
what i mean is the way it feels as you are playing under the fingers?
like some pups feel saggy or even draggy as you play and others are real precise and up frony and track your playing fast(ala EMG,duncan custom) and the notes just repond immediately.
