Hey dudes. I have a Reverend Slingshot Custom guitar with P-90s. The guitar is a semi-hollow bolt on with a mahogany block in the middle, with phenolic top and back. I love the axe, and for the amount I use them, the neck and middle pickups are cool. I don't really like the Bridge pickup all that much though. I find that it lacks balls and growl, and tends to be a little on the nasal and abrasive side when overdriven, although it does have a nice clean tone. The bridge pickup is wound to 8.5k, according to the sticker on the back. I'm actually looking for something that sounds a bit more like the Phat Cat pickup, which is nice and growly and ballsy, but not all that hot. I basically just want to play classic rock and blues with this guitar.

59n versus a SLn
How would a 59n sound different then a SLn in a Les Paul style guitar using a high gain amp (i.e Mesa Boogie Rectoverb). FYI, I have a 59b and I really love the sound of the 59b. I Like the sound of the SLn too, but curious about a 59n.

X2N VS Super Distortion
Can anyone tell me the differences between X2N and superdistortion?
I want to replace the tone zone in my RG3120 with either of them. I found that tone zone easily gets muddy. The guitar is made of mahagony with rosewood finger board, and it has a dimarzio paf in the neck, which I am satisfied with. Basically I want the bridge pup provide clarity under hi gain, and sound tight and bright. Which is better, X2n or Super Distortion? Thanks

Mahogany Tele Project
I got this tele body off of ebay last week. I already had a mighty might neck, warmoth bridge, pickups etc. This morning I got out the router and routed it to accomodate a bridge humbucker The bridge pickup is a custom and the neck pickup is a strat hot stack. The custom sounds very decent in this thing.. a lot better than in my ash tele.. it's darker and more punchy in mahogany. The hot stack (neck) sounds better in ash.. more bright and snappy. I will probably replace it with my a2pro.
It's a rocker.. a pretty good backup for my LP.. actually, my LP is more twangy than this guitar since the LP has a Seth Lover in the bridge. I also put a zebra jazz in the LP this morning.. it's a very nice match for the SL.

mixing and matching pre amp tubes
was just wondering...I swapped the 12ax7 that's in the V1 position of my tube amp with a different brand of 12ax7 (put a GT in there instead of the electroharmonix...someone said that putting a different tube in the first gain stage could really change the tone of the amp so I experimented)..

Anyone try the new Barber Direct Drive?
Of what I gather from Barbers website the new DD is suppose to have more bass on tap and is all around clearer than the SS model. Has anyone tried the new DD and what were your impressions? I love the SS model with my PRS SE but its a bit dark with my LP. Hoping the new one might be the ticket. Thanks.

Epiphone Sg's Dot Studios
I have narrowed down my new guitar to 4 choices. All epi's 310 SG, 400 SG, and the Dot Studio and the Schecter Omen 6, which I am not sure if I like that one yet. I play mostly punk/pop-punk/and Alt rock. I wanted to know which one would sound the best for my type of music. My budget is around $350. I play bass normally so thats why I dont want to put more than that amount into a guitar. Thanks for the help.

SD STK-P1 Stacked P-90 Single-Coil Pickup
Doesn't anyone have any experiance with this pup, is it really quiet like a humbucker? A P-90 humbucker!
Unlike other single-coil P-90s, the P-90 Stack is a true humbucker in a P-90 package. Using Duncan's patented Stack® technology together with adjustable pole pieces, the guitarist can now obtain P-90 tone in a studio-quiet pickup.

question about tubes
I was wondering if anyone can give me an explanation as to the difference in various output tubes. Particularly the Groove Tubes KT-88 and EL-34s. I checked the website and still don't know anymore than I started with. Any help would be appreciated.

Praise for some non-duncan pups...
I put the stock McCarty pups back into my BLE that is going to ship to T4D soon. Those are some pretty decent pups. Gotta give credit where credit is due. Coil tap works pretty good there as well, quacky and funky where it should be.
