Doesn't anyone have any experiance with this pup, is it really quiet like a humbucker? A P-90 humbucker!
Unlike other single-coil P-90s, the P-90 Stack is a true humbucker in a P-90 package. Using Duncan's patented Stack® technology together with adjustable pole pieces, the guitarist can now obtain P-90 tone in a studio-quiet pickup.
I like the P-90 tones but the crappy one I have now (epi stock P-90 on my Epi SG Jr.) is so disgustingly noisy distorted. Just wondering if I can get that nice fat sound with our having to modify the pup cavity to fit a humbucker in there.

I don't know if this has being said in that thread but you can consider the posibility to install one or two push/pull pots to swicht from various options like series/parallel/split. That would increased the sonic chances of your SG.

Although the ad copy says quot;real humbuckerquot; that is true only in the sense that it is humcancelling. But it is not like it will sound like a real PAF style humbucker in your guitar. The bridge P-90 stack is thinner than a real P-90, even when wired in series. But one advantage with putting a P-90 bridge stack in your guitar is that you can add push-pull pot(s) to switch between different sounds.

I have two Stacks installed on my Gibson Les Paul Pro Deluxe (1978/1979). It's true: they will sound thinner than the stock Gibson P-90s (can't speak to the Epi versions) -- in fact, they'll sound a lot thinner. It sounds like someone has taken out a good chunk of the P-90s balls, but I don't care. All I really need to do is turn my amp up an extra .25 of a volume position and I get the same results.
