I recently bought a 86 Hamer chapparal custom which comes not with the classic 5way pickup selector but with a system of 3 separate switches(one for each pickup) that are giving various combinations of pickups and series/parallel wiring. Here's a photo of the guitar so you can see the switches:

Now, i am about to change the pickups and install EMG 85/SA/SA. I have the schematic of the original wiring of the guitar with the 3 switches but i do not need all those combinations with the emgs(and i do not think it is possible).....i just want to be able to activate each emg pickup on/of with the relative switch. Here is the schematic of the original wiring of the guitar:

from : localhost/know this is a bit more complex than the classic wiring diagramm so if any of the more experienced users know how to wire the emgs on those three switches.............

Actually, that becomes pretty easy. Just use this SD schematic:

3 pups, 3 switches

You're only dealing with the hot wires of the pickups, so it doesn't matter if they're actives. I believe EMG's use red for hot, but I'm not sure. But as you can see, you're only using two terminals of each switch. On or off, going to the volume control.

Let us know if you still need more help.

Thanks.............you're right, that was easy......... :******:
much easier than i thought................................
