=INDEX(ReturnRange,MATCH(Value,MatchRange,0))

For example:

=INDEX(A:A,MATCH(E2,C:C,0))

where E2 houses a value you want to look up.

Hi!

To return the value from column A:

=INDEX(A1:A5,MATCH(lookup_value,C1:C5,0))

To return the value from column B:

=INDEX(B1:B5,MATCH(lookup_value,C1:C5,0))

Or, index both columns A and B and use a cell to hold the column_number
argument:

H1 = 1 or 2

=INDEX(A1:B5,MATCH(lookup_value,C1:C5,0),H1)
