When I start XL 2003, I get the error message quot;File Format Not Validquot; When
Starting Excel. Error Code 0D3F6000
I tried repairing the software, using the repair function in Office 2003. I
have uninstalled the software, rebooted the computer, and reinstalled the
software. I continue to get the same error message. I've even googled for
the problem, without success.
I have searched the Microsoft databases for anything on this. Most of the
error messages from MS govern problems in working software.

Follow up:
I'm starting XL from the quot;Start gt; Programs gt; Microsoft Office gt; Excel 2003quot;
menu, not double clicking on an existing file. This should be a clean start
of XL.

Is it possible you have a file that Excel cannot read in your XLStart
subdirectory? Check here
C:\Documents and Settings\*** YOUR USER NAME ***\Application
Data\Microsoft\Excel\XLSTART
amp; make sure all the files are Excel compatible

You, sir, are a genius. I went into that directory and found a file named
0D3F6000, with no file extention. I moved it to the desktop, and started XL,
which booted correctly!
Thank you.

Oh, come on. You're making me blush.
Glad it solved your problem!
