Hi guys
I've been playing my epi les paul (with dimebucker slapped on) straight thru a Marshall avt50. The problem is that I noticed that at lower volume, I got a tighter and more bass response compared to when I cranked up the volume pass 12 o clock, where the bass kinda disappeared, with more pronounced mids and presence . Can anybody tell me why this happened? Cheers.

Thats odd because the ear at lower volumes notices mids more and at higher volumes highs and lows.
this happens when your speaker cant keep up with the amp in my experience.
Are you using the AVT cabs also? I find they are pretty weak on the bottom anyways. I wouldnt be surprised though as it takes more current to produce lows if the amp did start dropping lows past a certain point. Could be wrong on that but thats my suspiscion.
my avt is a combo. it sounds nice when the volume is set below 12 o clock. ANy louder it tends to lose some of its bottom end.
