Have any of you guys ever heard any of THESE bad boys in action? I'd be interested in hearing from Scott_F. I am not familiar with this company, but I have been wanting to try an 18 watter!!
18 Watters are the cat's a$$. I love mine (see link in signature, then go to The Workshop). If I still lived in Atlanta, I'd happily let you come over and try it out, but Houston's a bit of a hike.
There's about a bazillion guys out there who build 18 Watters at all price points. If you know which end of a soldering iron to hold, you can build one yourself from scratch, or from a kit. Not to take anything (like business) away from Scott - I'm sure he'd build you great one at a great price. Remember, a lot of the 18 Watters out there are pretty hard-core boutique amps. A lot of money gets put into fancy tolex and gold-tone brushed aluminum and high-dollar caps. I suggest to you that generic parts from Mouser in a plain pine box can sound just as good. (Or maybe a pine box covered in weird blue vinyl.) Some things are worth spending money on (transformers come to mind), but mine is about the best sounding amp I've ever owned, and I've only got about $500 in it.
Are you familiar with from : localhost/www.18watt.com/?
