I've never tried any of the GoldTone products, and now am interested by this:

from : localhost/nice. It's either that or an AC15. If I'm willing to stretch the dough, maybe a Budda Superdrive II combo. ( from : localhost/)

What do you guys think? Particularly on the Gibson, as I've never played it, and haven't even seen one of these in any of my stores. I remember vaguely hearing about them, and the comments were generally good.

I recently got a Gibson GA 15RV which is similar to the GA 20RVT. Mine's not tube reverb, nor does it have tremolo, and it's not PTP either. Some differences in the models, but I'd imagine the tones would be similar. I really like my Goldtone. Nice warm smooth sound. 15 LOUD watts which can be switched to 6 watts. However, it's not really as 'Voxy' sounding as the specs would make you think. If your looking for the Vox AC15 sound, then I'd go that way. However, I haven't played the new Vox AC15 CC's that have just come out, but I did play a Korg RI model a few weeks ago. I preferred the Gibson over that particular model.

The Gibson Goldtone series are just the Trace Elliot Velocette line that they re-branded when they bought Trace a few years back.

I've own two Traces; the one with the 10quot; speaker and no reverb and the one with the 12quot; speaker and with reverb and a pentode/triode switch. Both amps are just tone monsters. VERY British sounding to my ears.

I played a 30 watt 2x12 Goldtone and liked it a lot!

Yeah, I'm a fan of the vox sound, but do you have any clips maybe? I'd love to hear these Gibson amps. The only thing that's actually stopping me from considering the GA 15RV is that I've heard ext. cabinets kill the sound from the primary speaker.

I don't have any clips. The computer that I used to record with has crashed and burned.

I've only had the amp for about a week, so it's pretty new to me and I haven't even had a chance to use it with my band yet. However, I'm digging the tones I'm getting with it so far, but I wouldn't say they were Voxy.

I know it's a different sound from the Vox and Gibsons, but does anyone have any opinions on the Budda combo (link posted in first post)? I've heard good things about Budda amps, and this one looks affordable.

These are one of the few EL84 amps I really like (Goldtones)...The MESA LS Special and the 18/20 W Marshalls and clones being the others.
