big suprise, huh?
I like my Hwy 1 Tele better (especially the neck, which is a shock).
I love the V neck around the cowboy chords area. Feels better than the Tele, not as good as a les paul.
But up around the upper frets, my hand just starts to hurt. I think the fretboard is just not as wide as on the Tele or something. I really haven't a clue as to why. I've been playing it for 2 days, will probably give it a few more, but so far, hmm... probably going back.
Oh well. I never noticed that on mine, but that's probably because I have ultra flexible spider legs for fingers.
V necks = yuck. I had an Ovation electric that was rather V-ish, and it felt like poop.
I happen to like V necks, and if you get the quot;rightquot; one it's V from the nut to say the 5th fret or so then it changes ito a big FAT C, which makes lead playing very nice and the V is great for open chords in the lower positions!
I don't care for the way the C feels around the 8-12th frets. But I love the V part. My favorite V neck I've touched (for only a too brief time) was on Evan's Jackson Sweetone Jazz'R.

However, the V-gt;C profile is a seperate entity from a standard V when you order from them.
Some explain why the Hwy 1 Tele actually feels better from 8-12th.

Nope. I'm not going to spend 1600 on a Strat. Just not gonna do it. If I was going to spend that kind of money, I'd buy another used Historic les paul
does anyone else think that on a 1000 buck strat, they ought to put it in a nice tweed case? or is that just my age showing? I guess it's better than a gig bag, uh, well, not exactly. case feels extremely cheap. But, this is not a quot;vintagequot; strat, even those its cosmetics are aged tint green.
I think that a v neck works better if the neck is vintage spec, ie narrower string spacing. I find a lot of the newer strats are too wide. The Clapton neck is gorgeous, slightly v'd, but more importantly, vintage string spacing.
i don't know what the neck on your strat is like...but we're about the same size guys...and i absolutely love the neck on hwy 1 teles too!!! they fit really good...it's actually a pretty beefy neck.

check out either the '54 or '57 reissues from japan.. about the same price as a new MIM strat, but i reckon you'll be pleasantly surprised
mine has a fat C profile (nothing like a MIM strat, it feels much higher quality), but i've seen one with a V profile before.. best bang-for-buck strat you'll find!

Yeah, but they don't sell them in North America anymore, so you will have to find used, or find someway to getone (and you most likely wont be able to try it out first).
they havnt been available new anywhere since 1993 or so.. nothing for export, anyway!
have a look on the used market, they are IMO the best strat upgrade chassis available. the routs are the trad-style though, its single coils only

You say anywhere, well, sorry to break it to ya, but there still is a fender factory in Japan and their still pumping out guitars.
I love V shaped necks. I have a Warmoth V shaped boat contour on one of my guitars. It's 1 inch thick from nut to heel. It's like holding a baseball bat but I love it.
1 on the Japanese Fenders. The quality of these things is phenomenal for the price. They are currently being made for the Asian market only, but you can buy then on EBay. The hype around them has kind of inflated their prices a bit unfortunately.

really now? try buying a new tele or a strat from there
anything fender US makes, fender japan dosen't. the new japan export line only does mustangs, jazzmasters, jaguars, and a couple of oddities (i dunno if the electric XII was reissued)
but yeah - the reason for not reissuing the strat, tele or any of the basses is that no-one would bother with the US stuff!
s'all good

tomNo, you said that there are no more new ones ANYWHERE, and there are, in asia...and it is possible to get a new one...you just need to buy a plane ticket.
