Well heres another poll to help me decide on things

Never played the ESP, but the Schecter's good.

I forgot to show you guys the guitars so here they are:

i chose esp because at least for me its a lot more comfortable to play and my hand doesnt slip or feel awkward as it does on string throughs i played s-1 and that was my only problem

They're both pretty much the same in terms of specs and quality. I'd go with the Ltd though because of the flame top, and I think it feels better to play.

my guitarist has a esp and its i think horizon 350 and its a neck thru and it rocks even know its humbuckers are sd designed

Schecter, I like the lack of model inlay at the 12th fret, the Tonepros bridge, design of the archtop, and string thru instead of stop tailpiece.

But wouldnt the neck-thru compansate for any loss of sustain caused by the stopbar tail piece?

Plus I heard somewhere that set neck was the poorest of neck joints

im not sure but even though my friends guitar of a lower model number has the neck thru i dont know if the others have it which i think is weird

i also heard set necks have the poorest of neck joints i dont know if thats true because if you look at all these cheaply made guitars all of them are bolt on and when you get @ 450 range then you start getting set necks

i think maybe certain problems are more commonly seen like necks slipping out or if the neck breaks its harder to replace but it other than that it doesnt make sense

The H-400 is not a neck-through, its a quot;set-throughquot;, which is a set-neck but with a carved away heel so it feels like a neck-through. Exactly what the Schecter has.

I like oth Ltd and Schecter, but I've always hated the sperm squiggle looking headstock on the H series, so I vote for the Schecter.

Not a sustain issue; it's a feel and setup issue for me. I like the look and feel of string thru better, and if you ever wanted to put tonepro's on the LTD, which the Schecter comes stock with , it'd cost more.

There is no 'better' neck joint, as far as bolt-on/setneck/neckthru is concerned. The only differences between then is feel, response, and sound, unless of course it's a shoddy contact between the neck and body. As long as it's a tight fit between neck and body, they all should sustain roughly the same.

I would go for the Schecter. As for hearing that set-neck is the worst neck joint, well that's a pretty bold (and not so accurate) statement.

That is a very solid point there! But what if I dont want a black finished guitar? Other than that...loving the Blackjack....but I also am loving the Elite!
