Something without a muffler to drown out the guitar...I guess I will sell it. I liked the feel and bought it based on that. I did not know it was plywood until I took the plat off to change pickups. I was playing a solando with a lot of gain when I tried it out. It is an 80's Kramer Striker if anyone is interested.
Try a ceramic mag in the JB, sorry no one told you Strikers were POS guitars before you got it. Hope it didn't cost much.
Well, does it sound bad? Honestly, who gives a f*ck what it's made of if it sounds good? I didn't know or care what kind of wood my guitars were until less than a year ago.
Honestly, I was happier before I worried about it
Plywood is just another way of saying quot;laminatequot;. There are plenty of laminate guitars out there that sound good. Does this thing sound bad?
Well... I have a SD vintage P-90 set on a danelectro and they do the job quite nicely. Of course it doen't sound like a vintage Casino or a LP Goldtop but I can get decent R'n'Roll tone out of it. The result tone it's very trebly but I think it's a matter of the aluminiun nut.
If you click on my signature you'll find a clip from this guitar, first on the list. Mind you that was recorded with a cheese amp and mic.
Jimmy D'Aquisto made some of his guitars out of a type of plywood, and they sounded beautiful...Then again, D'Aquisto could make a guitar out of toothpicks sound good. They were hollowbody jazz models and he used vintage style pups in them.
