I recently purchased a SD 59 pickup. The sticker on the back reads SH-1B. I pulled out the Fluke MM and checked ohms across it it came to 8.16 ohms. What I would like to know is there another version of this model because the spec calls for 7.43k for the 59 . I do see under the specs for the 59 a model TB59-1b specs Is this the bridge position model that has the 8.13 ohms and if it was wouldnt mine have that on the sticker instead of the SH-1B ? Not that it really matters beacuase so far I really like this pickup in the neck i'm just curious. Also are there any suggestions for a nice bridge pickup that compliments this one ?
The quot;Bquot; in SH-1B means quot;bridgequot;. Your reading is right on the money for that model.
btw - Welcome to the forum.
Edit: Oh yeah, and a nice match would be to put that in the bridge, and get a neck 59 for the neck.
I love my pair of 59's.
The 59b in the neck? Lots and lots of bass. Too much for me. IT'll depend on the guitar I guess, but even a 59N is pretty boomy in the neck of a LP (par exemple).
edit: oops, you made up your mind already. Fine. the Custom rawks with the 59. and if you need to try the custom 5, you can just throw in an alnico 5 magnet in place of the ceramic.
