and I started my guitar playing days during the Hootenanny/ Folk Music craze of the early 60's
therefore, I LOVE acoustics!!!
for the last couple years, I've always looked at Taylor 714CEs when I get the chance
well, my time finally came around, and today I picked up my new baby:
Taylor 714CE
It's a Grand Auditorium, rosewood with a cedar top, and electronics - very warm tone, sounds great for fingerpicking.
I love the size, and the playablility. I'm hoping to get back to some of the basics of pickin', strumming, singing, and writing songs with this guitar.
And, I'm just as excited as a little kid! So, I had to share.
Peace
NICE!!
I hope you'll play and enjoy her for a long time.
if she sounds half as good as she looksyou're a luck man!
Congrats Gary, Ihope you enjoy her for a long time to come!
well holy crap isn't that a nice guitar. I bet it sounds just as good as it looks. (or better)
thanks
I have now officially totally run out of excuses for not doing something playing wise.
talk about pressure
The link isn't working for me Curly, but I know those 714's are incredible looking instruments. The tour of the Factory finally did you in, didn't it?
A new Taylor and a new Goldtop in the past month....it's good to be Curly!

Yeesh, you're on a roll lately between your Gibson '57 RI Gold Top and a premium Taylor.
I get to that point sometimes too I look at my Grosh and think to myself quot;why am I looking at another guitar?, I need to learn how to play this thing firstquot;
For some reason I think Curly should get it refinished in either Blue or Gold
Dang Gary, how many new guitars is this now? That's a beauty!

hey, who's counting????
sooner or later I'll have to sell a couple things though
the fact is, I love my old D-28, but it's getting tough to play after 30 years
and Jeff, the link should be OK ... worked for me
Hold on there Gary - it's not blue!
I hope you love that beauty even more than I enjoy my 314 C (no E). The shape amp; size are perfect IMHO. With solid rosewood sides and a cedar top, she should just sing
Chip
Damn, I'm so jealous I've been fantasizing about a taylor for a while now... I remember the 1st time I played a 514ce...I almost melted into the chair I was sitting in....
that one is beautiful. I think i need to make a trip to your house.
again, thanks, folks!
I'm pretty darned stoked!
just played for an hour, and it's so SWEET!!! I just can't stop!!!
it's very very nice having an acoutic that I can play just about anything on.Originally Posted by drp555Damn, I'm so jealous I've been fantasizing about a taylor for a while now... I remember the 1st time I played a 514ce...I almost melted into the chair I was sitting in....
I went down the line and played a bunch of _ 14CEs the other day. The 714 was still the one for me, but I have to say, the 514 was VERY nice, and I think Taylor does an exceptional job with their mahogany guitars. Our tour guide today, Jim, said he plays a 514CE. I'd also give honorable mention to the 414CE-L7. Great tone - I just prefer a glossy finish on rosewood, since it's so beautiful.
thanks again
nice curly, so thats what you were talking about on that acoustic forum! Congrats man ill be joining the tayor fmaily in a few months as well!
im more of a martin man, but that is one heck of an acoustic....taylors are great guitars, enjoy it and use it well...
since u say ur D-28 is getting hard to play, if it needs a home, im sure i can show it some love.
another great guitar to add to your collection.
Congratulations, G. Playability on those guitars is great, and I'm glad to see that it was adopted by a loving owner.
Wow, I rarely ever have acoustic GAS (contrary to what my kids would tell you, they think that my gas is prolific), but you've given it to me.
thanks again to all for the kind remarks, and helping support my bad habit (GAS) ...Originally Posted by strat_masternice curly, so thats what you were talking about on that acoustic forum! Congrats man ill be joining the tayor fmaily in a few months as well!
yup, that's exactly what I was talking about. And, I hope you get a nice one!

the first good acoustic I bought was my D-28 that I bought new in '72. It finally had a neck reset a couple years ago, but I pulled it out the other day, and it was tough to play, so it's getting a little adjustment now.
and, after 30 years, it ain't goin' no where
it's in terrific shape cosmetically, and sounds great ...
but I did need something that played a bit easier
Peace
Man is there anything you don't have now?
