being that you want it kramer style and not charvel style the builder i use is out since they do fender/charvel style. PM 9Finger, he has a guy that does good kramer style bodies...as for the neck if you want the hockey head warmoth or a small luthier may be your only choice. if you want to go charvel style though, i got ya covered and may be able to pull one off in your price range.oh and get an OFR, not the schaller!
on the other hand, those kramers seem to be pretty damn good guitars for the $$ so it may be easier to just go that route since you pretty much want exactly that anyway.
-Mike
Thanks Mike!
I really DO want the Kramer body and stock.... though I do like the Charvels too....
that MYO is hard to beat...hardshell case too!
I'm gonna ponder on it
I know a few people that can do it, and would be happy to ...
but $700 is too low, imo, for a Floyd-equipped guitar.
OFR = $150-180
1 x PAF style pickup (we'll be generous here and go with Gibson) = $90
1 x good volume control = $15
1 set of good tuners = $70
1 good Switchcraft jack amp; plate = $20
We've spent $345 - $375 just on those parts alone!
Throw in a good quality neck and body ... I think a builder can do $700 IN HIS COST of parts, but then there's no labour for assembly, set up, finishing/painting the neck amp; body, etc etc.
Go with the Music Yo, hot rod as you see fit, and rejoice!
yikes TO, where have you been buying your parts? some prices are on but $20 for a jack and jack plate and $15 for a pot? CTS and dimarzio pots are $4.50 -$5 and you don't get much better. a switchcraft jack is $2.50 and a chrome football style jack plate is $3.00. also he wanted a duncan 59 so that's only $70. as for tuners since the guitar will have a floyd, spending the cash on schallers isn't 100% needed so you can go with gotohs and it will stay in tune just the same. i use schallers on most builds anyway but i do have one i used gotohs on and it stays in tune just as well since it has a locking nut and floyd and the tuners only cost me $40 or $45. as for the OFR, you're dead on on that, i hunted high and low and the best i found was $170 with nut and string tree.

You are not far from the truth bro!!!
I cant do one for ya JeffB for your price range!!!! I aint working for free!!!!!
just ran a bunch of numbers for the heck of it and to do a charvel clone similar to the specs you would want in solid white with a oil finished neck would be about $878 or so. that's IF you know how to put it together and oil finish a neck...lucky for me i do all that along with wiring, fret dressing and figerboard rolling etc etc etc myself so that's how i save cash.

Spring for the MYO Kramer, Jeff. They aren't bad guitars. Never mind what a certain store owner in Nevada says about them.....LOL. I'd get one in a heartbeat if I could, and didn't have to other projects on my plate that I want to do first.
That's a seriously ugly guitar.
I honestly wasn't trying to be a quot;cheap@$$quot; to anyone here..or get them to work for free Dave...just seeing if this price was out of line to have the same thing built by a independent builder..I didn't really have a clue, and thats why I asked. Did not mean to offend.
I'm gonna keep looking for an old Focus 1000, I think, and then just put a better pup in it when I find a decent one...this is just a quot;sidequot; guitar for me when I get GAS for a Floyd/Bolt on sound/tone.
Those old Focus' are sweet. A fellow player I knew in high school had one. Loaded it up with a Distortion and had it painted like Lynch's burst tiger. Sounded great.

YOU DAMN cheap@$$
LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!! Just kidding Jeff!!!! I wasnt offended at all and I didnt mean to come across that way!!!!
Here's a start. This is the beauty of a parts-O-caster. You can grow it over time. It's not a one time expence. But when it's all said and done it will be over your price range. I've built a few parts-o-caster. Even cutting corners on hardware and finishing it myself it ran me $500 And the big down side is there's no resale value . (unless you find someone with your same taste and disposable income )

I know where several used Kramers are in the $200-300 price range. Some are ready to retrofit with an OFR, some would need a little routing or filling. You might could find one that way and come in under the price you're wanting.
FWIW, that certain Nevada guitar shop owner wants $1000 for his Kramer kit that fits your specs almost exactly.

I wasn't sure...you know how this damn intarweb can be...after seeing a few of your JB tirades, I got skeeered
Thanks for the replies MIA amp; KMC....
HAMER Standard is first in my sights unless I come across a quot;must havequot; focus......there's a nice one on Ebay now...but I friggin hate plain black superstrats, and of course it's black... reckon I could paint it or suttin..
or add some Ozzy stickers? (to match my knuckles )
