I've been wanting one of these forever, and every now and again there's one on Ebay.

Man, I really do NEED one of those.

Ya i have seen some gear i want as well over the last few weeks and i have 0 bucks to spend!

Welcome to the club...my name is quot;hossquot; and i'm your broke president...LOL!

i've had a guitar that i paid $350 dollars for on layway for over 3 months and still owe $200 bucks on it!!! now that sucks!!! and then when i get it out i will have no amp to play it on...that kinda sucks too!!! LOL!!!

Can I join the club?

Well, I have money, just not quite enough yet

GAS sucks

But my main problem isn't just the pricetag of gear, but also my big handicap being lefthanded. I like things out of the ordinary (as in: not just the big names) but you don't come across cool lefthanded gear much, except for the big names. My Lag was a welcome exception, though, when I spotted that on eBay Germany. Shortly after, I spotted an incredibly cheap German-made Sandberg fourstring but by that time I was broke (partially due to buying the Lag, LOL).

Try having all the gear you could ever want.....and still not be happy....think about that and see if it helps.

Good point. Although I own about 20 guitars, I'm far from having all the gear I want. And I sometimes remember what it was like having one crappy guitar and one crappy amp - no gadgets, just guitar/cord/amp, and there you go. In a way I was happier back then.

I know listening to stuff like this sucks. Sorry.

Good point, Tony. Like any other addction, the more you have, the more you need to feel normal again. There's always room for one more.

Yes. My wife told me I was addicted to guitars, and she probably was right. I have a family to support so I can't go crazy with guitars, yet I do. Do you know an other father of four who's a hobbyist guitar player at best (1 to 2 gigs a month) and has 20 guitars at home?
But I don't want to hijack the thread.
Peace
Tony

Perception of want or need and actual want or need is usually discernable by a good solid tragedy or perspective-giving event in life.

Shortly after my son was born I realized I didn't need half of what I had. Now that he's two months I can honestly say I probably need less than that.

The irony is that I was sent down this path because I wanted mroe gear; I came to a point in my life where I realized that I needed to go to college and get my degree to get a job to afford what I wanted. Along that way I got a wife, a house and then my son.

The cure...for GAS....is perspective.

I've got perspective. I've got no money. I don't want twenty guitars. I don't need a $3000 guitar. I just need a decent keeper that doesn't have a broken trem unit, and an amp that doesn't sound like a transistor radio.

I feel the collective pain of those without money.

No, see, you simply don't understand, I really do need that guitar.

Man thats a nice guitar, if only it wasn't american ebay I'd buy it. Oh well, Nice anyway, I have the money for gear, Its just my parents dont like me spendin the money on gear

Yeah, GAS sucks. If it weren't for music, I would have enough money to buy a '67 mustang. I'm not even kidding.

I hear ya ....poor starving married college student with GAS chris

i just want to clear something up a bit here...i am a happy person...i have a wife and daughter that FAR exceeded any expectations i could ever have dreamed of as a young person about being a husband and father...believe me they are two unreal people!!!!

i also have an acoustic that i wouldn't trade for the world...it's just a tak but it was my first and i've written everysong i've ever wrote on it and although i've played em all...Taylors, Martins, Gibby's, Larivees, etc...i seriously wouldn't trade it for any of them as crazy as that sounds! i also have an absolutely gorgeous white blonde ash usa p-bass that just freakin rocks! (and recently a 69 epi flattop)

i've also had some nice stuff...i've had an sg bass, an ampeg bass amp, a 50th anny tele, a bassman, a tech 21 120, a brian moore, and blah blah blah...all sold without regret...because the money went for the greater good if you know what i mean...sure i wish i still had them, but they were/are only things.

now i g.a.s. like almost no other person i know...after all i used to be known as the Gassologist on the old board...lol and it sucks that things are still a bit out of my reach, but i know i'll get some of them someday...it's all good.
