Im thinking about getting one and I want to amplify it with a crate powerblock using it just as a power amp...does anyone use this setup? does it work well? thanks

Into 2 Atomic Amps in stereo. It kills! I also use it for FX only on a few other amps that are simplistic in form, like a Marshall 1959 SLP. Works great!
thanks Instituteofnoise
I dont have alot of experience using a separate power amp and a separate preamp. Would it be a bad idea to use a tube power amp with the digital pod?
I used to use a Vox TonelabSE pedal board - I had an atomic for awhile but it just didn't do it for me - I picked up a used peavey classic 50/50 stereo tube amp and ran it into a 2x12 avatar cabinet - sounded awesome. The peavey is a very neutral sounding power amp (8 EL84's) and even at high volume it didn't put any of it's own quot;soundquot; in the setting I had created.
is it just the amp itself or is it the EL84s that make it neutral? If i could just get an EL84 power amp that would be awesome.

There are so many thread on this already ... try a search.
Sorry I did search on it and I didnt find anything about what power amps are best used with a pod. I just want to know what the best option is for powering one.
i had an XT and I powered it with full range JBL EONs, which have 15s and horns. I don't have my XT anymore, but I use another modeler, the Boss GT-Pro- I use it the same way, or with in-ear monitors, and the mix goes out to the PA.
Some people use modelers with tube amps, but i never tried it- I always liked the sound without having to add another piece of equipment.
I'm one of the others Mincer is talking about. I run my GT-8 into a Mesa 50:50 power section. I really like the way it sounds and especially how it responds. grab the power section your ears like the most and use that, be it tube or SS.
