I’m building a H/S/H strat and wanted to build in some fun stuff too. I’m just not sure if I’ve gone too far.
My setup will use a JB, an SSL-1-RW/RP, and a Jazz neck. Positions 1,2,4,amp;5 are straight foreword. Position 3 gets a little hairy. I wired position 3 using the south coils in single coil mode because the humbuckers I have will attract each other if placed screw to stud, but will repel if placed stud to stud or screw to screw. I wanted the position to be humbucking so I used the combo that attracted. All of the switches are DPDT on/on.
The switching scheme and diagram are shown below. I believe everything will work as planned, but I was hoping some of the wiring guys could take a look and tell me if I missed something. Artie looked at this when I posted the diagram in a different thread, but I wanted to get some additional feedback.
Also, the tone section is not set in stone yet. There is the possibility of having a different combination of pot and cap for each position of the main switch. Position 3 could also have different combinations for the humbucker and single coil modes if a push pull switch is added to one of the tone controls.
Thanks in advance for any feeback.

Dang, that looks cool.
I did look at all the combinations, and it looks like it will do what you want.
I like the way position 3 is quot;Programmablequot; but you can get to the quot;Meat amp; potatosquot; sounds by flipping the main toggle.
Having the tone controll congfigurable is a good idea, the JB is gonna want to see a different (lower I think) cap value when it's in full HB mode for sure.

It actually turned out better than I expected. One think I like is that it is quot;safe.quot; With all of the switches pointing to the floor it will be in dual humbucker, parallel mode, and there is little chance of getting lost in a sea of switches. If I do get lost, I can just drop into one of the quot;meat amp; potatosquot; positions.
I was a little worried about the series / parallel mode causing problems in the other main switch positions, but I'm pretty confident that there will not be any conflicts.
Hi,
Some questions about north/south screws/studs etc.
To get quot;humbucking in-phase soundquot; (either parallel or series) for
two SC then the pickups should be RW/RP. So in the case of your
#4 position, the Neck is connected quot;North start:hot finish:groundquot;
and the SC is is RW/RP so it is quot;South start:ground finish:hotquot;.
Explain the story about the quot;southquot; to quot;southquot; connections of
the two HB for the SC to SC connections in position #3 and
how you are getting hum cancellation.
Also, is there any meaningful sonic difference between the
screw and stud sides of the pickup?
Is there any meaningful sonic difference for a SC from going
quot;start:ground finish:hotquot; rather than quot;Start:hot finish:groundquot;?
(Do start and finish always represent inner versus outer coils?)
thanks a lot

man, that is the best HSH mod I've seen to date! You've got to give us some sound clips of it when its finished.
BTW - where on the guitar have you placed the three switches?
