Okay today I plugged in my Vox Wah and when I turned it on and pushed down, it made one of the shrillest sounds ive ever heard in my life, it almost sounded a bit like a very high pitched dog bark or yelp, but very very high pitched, it scard my dog and scared me too, it made me jump a little cause it was an almost eerie sound, but it really sounded horrible...
What could this be, it only does it when my wah is in...??
thanks
Matt
You did'nt plug it in backwards did you? Oh the many times i've done that in a rush. Sounds just like you described.

It's suffereing from lack of Stratdeluxer mods!
NO I don't think i plugged it in backwards, im pretty sure i didn't, but yeah i guess that could be it but im sure i plugged it in correctly......
dude...make sure you didnt plug it in backwards. i kept gettin that shrill noise for about a month straight, kept trying new batteries all the time, etc. just as i was about to go out a buy a new wah, i realized id been plugging it in wrong the whole time
Did you check for banshee's? They like to hide in there sometimes.
Here's the trick to dialing in a wah's frequency range....
Take the back panel off
Look where the black treadle makes contact with the threads on the pot.
There's a flexible piece of plastic pushing them together....loosen it's screw and push it sideways outta the way.
Figure out how to adjust the pot's travel, so it takes off some of the highs, and extends your bass travel. Push the flexible plastic piece back into place.
After experimenting with the pot's travel, you can get your wah's frequency travel exactly where you like it. Hope that helps. Beyond that, send it to John for mods!

I'm done doing wah mods unless you guys don't mind using the Fasel inductors? I've messed with the red and yellow and I don't care for them? The right inductor is a big key in having great wah tone...
John
John, are the Hot Potz any good? I saw your other thread about Fulltone discontinuing their Inductors.
All I can say is quot;The Fulltone Clyde Deluxe is the last word in wah pedals.quot;
Even the regular Clyde is perfectly killer.

The reason I favor the Fulltone wah is because of the pot and inductor...These have been the only 2 parts I'd use in my wah mods...I don't like the Hot Potz compared to the Fulltone pot,but you can still get the Fulltone pot(for now)....I'll need to grab a few of those for myself before he stops selling those also...
I'd only recommend guys to buy the fulltone wahs at this point...That's hands down, the best sounding quot;vintage styledquot; wah on the market...
