marshall cabinet question???
i recently acquired a 1982 JCM 800 50 watt head(from 59paul) Now i'm looking for a 4x12 cab.many have 75 watt speakers loaded in them.is this not practical with a 50 watt head???should i be concentrating on a cab with 4 25watt speakers??? a good friend said look at the 1960 a/b's.any feedback is welcome.

So I'm picking up some extra hum and hiss from my cables coupling my effects into my amp. Can someone reccomend a super quiet, high quality instrument cable?

Even though I lean toward strats, I have to say that some of my favorite tones came from Duane Allman live (both on Fillmore East and Eat A Peach). His tone was different live; I think because he used Fenders in the studio and Marshall's on the live album. I don't think he used any effects, just drive on the amp. ****y Betts live with the Allman's sounded much cleaner. But Duane's sounded much hotter and fatter. Any comments?Sincerely,

When i had them in a gibson MIII it wasn't right but now it is a dream .
59: nice definition , sustain forever , bite when needed , very singing with overdrive and wonderfull clean even not taped .

I have a Fender Strat Plus with gold lace pickups. I'm just overall tired of the sound. I've been playing a wide range of music like Tesla, Audioslave, AC/DC, and ZZ Top. They are all different sounds and I want pickups that can DO IT ALL!!! Just kidding, but I do want away from that gold lace pickup sound and honestly, I've listened to the Tone Wizard all day and can't tell Ozzy from John Denver. I tried finding it in the forum search and couldn't really find what I wanted, but I might just be brain damaged from my Tone Wizard marathon.

Hey guys.. I was just wondering because everyone seems to love vintage guitars and their pickups 'n' stuff... Do you think guitars back then were built with more love and care?

Could you compare them please? Which is hotter? Which had more bass, mids or treble? Which did you prefer and/or keep?

Alright, I just got my Gibson Les Paul a month ago and the neck is so ridiculious that I cant even play my favorite strat no more. Anyways, I need to put in some new pick-ups because the ones in there just arent cutting it. I'd like to have something similar to the Hot Rail pick-up if they make it. Im going for an Iron Maiden-ish type sound if that helps any.

Who plays them? What's the sound like? Is it hard to play them without a pick?

wasn't sure weather to put this in here or pick up thread so....ive played a schecter omen 6 and it sound real nice and fits me well, and thinking about making my next purchase. i played it trough a randall at gc and at home id play it through a fender frontman 25r but then im gonna purchase a marshall not sure what one but....so on to the question. i hear a lot of people say that schecters are nice but really good if you do a pick up swap. so i was curious what your opinion were if stock pups are good or if it would be better to do a swap and if so what types, im into the metal rock and some classic stuff. i don't want to go waste money on pups then find out the stocks are better so any suggestion are appreciated.

So how does that modded Boss GE7 work compared to your stock one? I mean the anticipation is not unlike waiting for the Heinz Ketchup to come out of the bottle....Jesus,I'm not getting any younder brother! :fing25:

Hello, I think I'm gonna save up money for a used Orange Rocker 30 combo, do you think that is stupid, or is it worth it? I've heard some sound clips, and it sounds absolutely stunning..Really beautiful..both clean and the gain channel, but I think that especially the gain channel is a winner, it really shines on these amps.

.....as a top on a solidbody strat style guitar?
