Hey guys... I've got a prob with my Strat. It's tuned down a full step (DAFCGD) and when I play on frets higher than 7, the notes sound somehow compressed and just strange... when I'm in normal tuning, this effect is there, but a bit less noticeable.. I mean I know that the sound changes when you go down on the fretboard, but that's quite annoying... So does anyone know how to compensate this a bit?
thanks
hold on. i'll be there in a couple of hours and can take the axe with me to try and fix it
(and after that you wont se me or your strat ever again BWAHAHAHAHA)wait.. did i say that out loud??can you tell i got no idea?
Since you detuned a whole step maybe the intonation if off and the voicing is affected?

Yes, the intonation is a bit off, but it doesn't sound just off, it'S an altered overall sound...
Might check your action and/or your neck relief. You might be getting a very slight string buzz due to there being less tension on the neck (due to being downtuned) and thus less curvature which might create super low action above the 7th fret. Try playing unplugged and listen for a string buzz.
Just a guess though.
