Pretty soon im gonna get a new amp and im quite sure its gonna be either the XXX or JSX, not too sure which one though..

Apparantly the JSX has a nicer clean channel which would be nice to have, but how about the Crunch channel, i hear it doesnt have as much distortion as the XXX but when i play on my friends XXX i only keep the gain around the 12 o clock area so i dunno if the less distortion on the JSX really matters. So right now i'm leaning more towards the JSX but im not completely sure, i wanna know what you guys have to say about the two.

5150II! It's a more raunchy, ballsy, organic version of the XXX!

hmm, i heard the clean on the 5150 is even worse than the XXX clean though i want my amp to have good clean and distortion

Ah...if cleans is a must, then yeah, an XXX or JSX. Honestly, I dig the cleans on the 5150, especially with some nice rack effects like a G-Major or something with a nice verb and chorus.

I'd go with the JSX. It's like an XXX with more features and versatility, as well as a tad sweeter voicing.

alright cool, yeah i plan on getting a chorus pedal sometime after i get my JSX for a nice clean effect.. but i gotta find out when the JSX 412 cab is coming out cause i dont wanna be without for too long.

i vote for JSX.

either the half stack or the Combo, both are good to go

When I was 16 I wished I could have a half-stack lol...good for you IcedEarth - make good use of it

Actually, I still kinda wish I had one. And a roadie to set it up for me....

why kind of cab would i use with a JSX? im thinking a XXX cab might be fine but i might wait until the JSX cab comes out who knows how long that'll be though

IMO, the best cabinets made, period, are Bogners, Mesa's, and Splawns. Grab a Mesa Traditional Sized 4x12 (not the oversized), or a Splawn 4x12, and thank me later!

The Peavey cabinet will be cheaper, but a used Mesa traditional can be found used for like 500-600. Well worth it, IMO. I would've saved up for it if I didn't find my Rivera at such a great deal. Hell, I might still save up for it!

i'll check those cabs out and such, it's gonna be a while till i get a cab cause im gonna buy the head to jam with at my friends house and such until i can afford a cab

ok i was looking at reviews for a Mesa traditional cab on harmony central and it seems like its a hell of a kick ass amp... really pricey but im sure i'll be able to handle it.. but one question is would it still sound that good if used with a JSX?

Yes. It sounds amazing used with 5150's, as well.

Andy Sneap only records his XXX and 5150 through a Mesa Traditional, too.

from : localhost/friend Zorran did that, all XXX through a Mesa Traditional 4x12.

I think Satch uses XXX cabs with his JSX heads.

You might want to look at B52 cabs. I've heard they are nice and them seem to cost a bit less (i'm thinking of getting one).

and thanks for the help too i have a good idea of what setup i want.. damn this is gonna be expensive

I can't believe no one asked what KINDA distortion and what KINDA cleans the guy wanted! Do you have a tone in mind? Can you give us some examples in songs, clips, etc?

well i want a distortion similar to the XXX's, i play lead in my band but i want it to have a good crunch too for when i play rythem too.. and if this head can go as heavy as iced earth or even megadeth thatd be fine
