as most already know i am a custom freak!
I really dont care for the custom5 but the others are just friggin great.
I play some yngwie. paul gilbert, michael angelo type stuff in my leads and wanted to hear from other CC users any little tricks to make the CC track faster lines better?
I am NOT saying it does not already track well but i would like it to track more like the ceramic custom does or the annihilator does?(alnico 8)
the CC has such a great tone( makes me sexually aroused as a mattter of fact!) but i need it to be a little more quot;keep up with my fast playingquot; from it
Hey Lester , I don`t if this is a long the lines of your post but I had the CC in my ash Strat but took it out. I replaced it with a Screamin Demon with standard slug pole pieces instead of the allen screw pole pieces. Well it didn`t work out in the ash Strat I`m gonna put the CC back in today since it sounded pretty damn good to begin with. You were saying in a different thread that it`s good to lower the CC a bit to get that vintage VH vibe out of it? Oh by the way , I dig all the Custom related threads!

yeah the CC does eddie to a tee but i need it to track real fast playing ala YJM and paul gilbert who are a little faster than eddie, not better but faster!
Yeah set it lower than usual for that classic 78-84 tone and it will not be compressed or too high output sounding.
eddie sets his bridge pup 5/64ths away from top of the stud pole to the bottom of the low E string and 1/8th on the high E side
he has them a little closer on the wolfgang but i prefer the further settings for his older tones
Adjust the polepieces of the CC with the two E string polepieces flat with the top of the bobbins and the other four in an arch that matches the curve of the fingerboard...then move the whole CC pickup closer to the strings. It'll brighten it up. I have mine very close to the strings and adjusted like that it's much brighter which will also make it more articulate.

Or try to change the screws for allen head and if it is too bright reverse the p-u with screws toward the neck , that should dry it out !
