Well thats about it, some guy offered me to change the circuit or something to my tubescreamer ts-7 so it could change to boss sd-1 super overdrive.

Should I do this?? Is it really worth it??

No, if you really want an SD-1, they're relatively inexpensive and currently in production.

Besides, if you ever want to sell your pedal, mods generally detract from the resale value.

But... if he was going to do a mod to your pedal that made it into a second generation Maestro Fuzz Tone...

So you wanna go from two quite functional settings to one that sounds like a TS style pedal with assymetrical clipping?
Why not just mod the the TS-7 for a more open sound, and let it keep the extra gain it has?

you mean the TS-7/808mod?

I really don't understand sh*t about the mechanism of a pedal. I just want it to sound better, and this guy offered me the modification. I like distortions like the one Matt Bellamy from Muse uses. Should I keep the TS-7? Are there other mods that will get me to what I like?

These SD1 to TS mods aren't the answer and they don't sound like each other...I own both the SD1 and a TS....Your TS isn't going to sound quot;just likequot; an SD1 after the mods.

But it can be improved on, but mind you there is SMD stuff inside that thing.
So everything is just not as easy as it used to be.
Otherwise modding a pedal is a straightforward buisness, well if you know what you are doing

Obviously every pedal can be improved on.I'm proof of that I guess... And yes,a guy needs to know where and how to make the improvements? When a person pays to have their pedal tweaked,modded,etc,they are paying not only for the components,but for the knowledge put into getting that better tone..

I've charged like half of what most if not all of the other modders charge..
