OK.. I am new to custom wiring. I can solder in new pups with simple wiring diagrams pretty easy, but I have no flippin clue how to wire my Tele according to the idea I have in my head. Heres what I want to do. It's a Nashville Tele so it's got the middle Strat pup. It's got a 5 way switch.
Position 1: Bridge pup
Position 2: bridge and middle
position 3: neck and bridge
Position 4: Middle and neck
Position 5: Neck
I want to be able to split my lil 59 with the push pull pot I bought in the bridge while maintaining all of the above sounds. Is there a diagram that would outline this for a dummy like me?
The diagram you want to wire up is quite similar to this one...
from : localhost//website...tone_5way.html
except that you don't just solder amp; tape the red and white wires together, but you solder them at either the right or left lug of the push poll and connect th emiddle one to ground.
Do you know how the tones amp; volumes are wired?
well if not, this gives you an idea... just wire them to the hot output of the five way
from : localhost//website...vol_1tone.html
You won't be able to get that #3 position due to the mechanical limitations of the switch. However, if you don't mind making a very small concession to the order in which they happen, you can. And, its dirt simple. Its the way that I have my Genny wired. (Its a Peavey HSS Tele-clone like yours.)
Simply reverse the neck and middle hot wires to the 5-way. Now you'll get those exact combinations, just in a different order.
(I tend to use #1 as the neck position.)
1. middle
2. neck amp; middle
3. neck
4. neck amp; bridge
5. bridge
You have the neck when the switch is straight up. Moving backwards is like a 3-way with the neck and bridge. (Typical Tele.) Moving forward is like a 3-way with the neck and middle. (Typical Strat.)
I love it. Works great.
Oh.. I didn't see that special #3 pos... sorry
.............head still spinning. Theres got to be a way to do this. Come on gurus!!!!
could be done with a superswitch instead of the stock 5-way switch .. is that an option for you? ... if so, i'll diagram it up
artie's is a good compromise if you want to keep using the stock switch
let us know

Thanks t4d i was hoping you would be one of the ones that chimed in!!I am not sure what a super switch is. I currently have the stock 5 way blade and a CTS push/pull(tone position) and the volume of course. I will do just about anything to make it work so please enlighten me!!!
Thanks
get the superswitch at stewmac here: from : localhost/this helps
btw: artie's way would work without you having to buy a new switch
good luck
