So after a long wait from a d-bag on ebay to ship me the Japanese Epi Les Paul custom I bought off of him. I'm so mad! Within all of the detailed pictures and his description it was clearly stated the only major physical flaw was a chip along the binding on the back edge. When I got it there was not only that chip, but a chip the size of a screw-head on the archtop edge all the way down to the wood! It looks like the finish might chip off more there too. Not only that but one of the top edged of the headstock is chipped AND there's stress/finish cracks at random places. It's a beautiful guitar still, but not worth what I payed. I'm so pissed off. For years I had nothing but good business done on Ebay, but it seems to get worse and worse. I'm not gonna settle untill I get either a full refund or some kind of compensation (I was thinking somewhere in the $150 area). I paid just over $500.
Yeah I wouldn't settle for less than at least in the $300 range...come on...the dude said that there were only a few flaws and when you got it, it had like more than what he said....I'd be pissed too..dude get your money back....for that you could get a new one.
Go through ebay,it's tempting to tell the person exactly what you think of them but if they are willing to misrepresent an item angry messages will have zero effect on them.
i had a good ebay experience. I paid 350 for a JBL d130f speaker and another one that needed reconing. Both arrived busted and the guy let me keep them both free! Now i have 2 kickass d130f reconed speakers for 270 total in reconing prices! I got more than i bargained for in the end.
If the seller is a power seller he would need to keep up his reputation if he wanted to keep on selling alot. Tell him about the damages and if he doesnt do anything about it, negative feedback him.

John's right. Its a cold hard fact. no use flaming him directly. report to ebay.
All is well, I got fair compensation. The guitar still plays like a dream, the tiny cracks are only minor finish NOT stress. The chip pisses me off but I'm gonna get if I can fix it or atleast stop it from getting bigger. I got a JB all ready to go in it. Can't wait to put new strings on her. I'll post pics ASAP.
Well, i've never bougth anything from Ebay, but i find it helpful to hear what can happen there. Any more tips for me?-Erlend
Erlend,
One of the biggest tips I can give you is to ask lots of question BEFORE BIDDING if the seller is not 100% clear on everything. Ask lots of question anyway. You can tell alot about a seller depending on how well and how quickly the respond to questions.
Also, if they do not have a set shipping price, ask them how much shipping will be before you bid!!!! There have been alot of sellers on ebay that dont list a shipping amount. The reason they do this is to gouge you at the end of the auction on shipping charges.
Good luck,Dave
