A while back, I made a thread about chaning some pickups, and someone told me that I could mod the humbuckers sound by changing the screws in the lower bobbin of the bridge pickups/higher bobbin' on the neck. IE, replace the standard screws with the type founf on Invaders or Full Shreds/DiMarzios.
So can anyone tell me which type of screw will alter the sound in which way?
And can I use any type of screw, or do they have to be made out of a special material? And if they do, where can I find such screws?
Come on guys, help me out here!
If this doesn't at least partially answer your question, consider this a bump.

Different shaped and sized pole pieces will make a difference. The length of the pole piece will also make a difference. If you shorten your pole pieces by about 1/8quot;, you will get a lot more upper mid punch.
Also, the heads of the Gibson pole pieces are quite a bit larger than the Duncan pole pieces (don't believe me -- hold one of each side by side). The Gibson poles as a result also give you more beef. Can't help but think the Invader pole heads also give you plenty of beef since they are just gigantic. They also get rid of drop-off in your signal when you bend the strings up to between the pole pieces.
