HI
Greetings from germany
I'm trying to install a jeff beck junior pickup in my Fender Mexico stratocaster and need some help. I want to make the HB splitable, so i got a push/pull-Poti, so that the humbucker works normal, and sounds splitted when i pull it out.
What wires do i have to put together at the push/pull? I want to put the poti where the volume-poti is right now.
Thats what i would do:
The main contacts ob the upper side remain like they are, so left goes to ground, the middle goes to the output-jack and the right contact will be connected to the cable coming out of the 5-way-switch. All other contacts will come on the back of the poti (guess this is ground): Die other cable to the output-jack, all blue wires from the single-coils (the red ones go to the 5way-switch), the balck cable coming from the 5-way-switch (attatched to the side of the switch, not the contacts like they are used für the PU-cables) and the thin cable connecting the backs of the tone-potis.
Would this be right?
Now my Problem ist the split-connection. green and bare should go to the back of the poti (ground), and what now?
black goes to the upper connection of the switch (i mean the part that hast the 6 connectors, 2 rows with 3 pins, not the 3 connectors on the upper side of the poti). The upper left gets the black cable, and another cable going to the 5way-switch. Red and white are together on the connector below.
Is this right, so that i play the humbucker normal, and get a splitted sound when i pull the poti?
Edit: The poti i use is a:
500Kohm, logarithmic, Push/Pull, split-shaft 500 k ohm log.
welcome to the forum!!
to split the coil you run the black wire to the 5 position pup selector switch like normal. the red/white series link goes to the middle lug of the mini switch.
this is a pic of the split. you will probably have a dp/dt switch so youll have another row of three pins. not to worry, leave them untouched. if you wanted you could use the other side to split another pup.

HI
Thanks, i got it, the problem was, that i did not find this with the genuine wiring i wanted to do wiring and this color-code, but now it works theoreticaly.
The splitting works, the pickup too, but i got some strange noisy while playing, it sounds like a radio between 2 stations, its simply noise. Guess i used wrong cable for the additional connections (poti to switch and another for ground), so that my ground is bad? Alone the guitar is silent (tried only in my silent room), but while playing there are these noises.
Could it be gone when i attach other cables?
