What would you sugest for a maple body guitar? I want somthing thick. A 59 laks a little high end and it needs a little more gain. I like the demon but even in my ash body its a bit to much on the top end. The output gain is perfect though.
i put a dimarzio super 3 in my all maple ibanez rx350. plenty of mids, dont need to worry about highs, but the bass seems a little....unsatisfying. i wanna try an invader now =D
if i remember right, isnt the duncan cc have a tone curve like the super 3? u know, low highs and lows, all mids. why not try that?
edit: doh, u prolly dont want all this output then. i should read more carefully
for duncans. cc and invader. some forum bros recommend the blues saraceno parallel axis trembucker but i have not tried it personally.
the cc has huge low mids and rounded highs. lows are a tad spongy due to the a2 mags. invader has massive lows and mids with enough highs to retain clarity.
you may want to consider the custom. i found it plenty bright with 500k pots. 250k pots will be perfect.
the cc is my favorite bridge humbucker followed by the custom with 250k pots.
Maple isn't the super bright tonewood most people tend to think, maple actually has a good low end. Maple doesn't deminish the low end as much as tightens it and to the high end, maple does the same thing there, so the tone of Maple is actually a clear midrangy tone with tight lows and less of the really high frequencies. Ash is actually a brighter wood than maple that's why the Demon was too bright for that guitar but you might like it in the Maple bodied guitar.
Try it !!!
PATB-1 is pretty good too. Similar to the 59, but a bit fatter and higher output. I like it better, and they look cool too.
C5. A custom/custom custom with it's magnet swapped out for an alnico 5. Better attack than the cc, easier on the ears than the c. Nice bass, too.
At least, from what I've heard.

With all due respect a C5 is a fairly bright pickup my man! A C5 is usually best in a darker guitar not a brighter one like a maple body. The Custom Custom is much warmer than the C5 and thus will be alot better choice in a bright guitar.

I agree but in his original post he says that 59 lacks a little high end. So I'd say c5 for him instead of a CC.

i have a jb in my maple nightfly and like it a lot- very thick, extremely tight base and good midrange- just a tad too bright, but just a touch of tone roll off tames it very nicely
Super Distortion!
