I have been getting into mr scary with dokken a lot lately and want to dump my lone star strat for a usa kramer(i hear these have a maple body?)
looking for a banana head pacer(any one) or barreta
i prefer a maple fingerboard but color/ condition is not a issue

Some of them had maple bodies, but they were fairly few. And none of the Kramers were made in America - they were all imported parts, mostly ESP, assembled here.

Sorry, man, but that's wrong. Post late-1985 Kramers were made by ESP and assembled here. Anything before then was made in the U.S. using Sports made bodies and Sports or LaSido necks, and late 1985, ESP necks. Barettas were made of either maple or alder depending on the year.

WL, keep an eye on eBay but be careful. There's lots of part mutts out there and some even selling Focus' as Baretta's and so on. If you have any questions whatsever about any you see, first ask the seller for more pics of areas in question, then look at vintagekramer.com to verify and last but not least, ask the Kramer gurus. Brent (9Finger) knows a lot and I know some to where I can help.

ErikH is correct...
LESTER... you will want to look for the earliest PACER's... the MAPLE bodied ones absolutely rock! KRAMER had a great batch of wood then.
Some things to identify them are the weight of the body, 2-piece with a center seam, only traditional colors and they made some transparent ones over the really nice Maple. Pickup routs will be very rounded in the corners and the body cuts and contours are a little deeper than a traditional Strat. The Barettas with Maple bodies had the pickup less angled and closer to the bridge than the later ones... basically in the best spot for tone... the later ones lose some of the attack because the pickup is pretty far away from the bridge.

I will post some pictures of a body tonight for you... I would suggest getting one of the bodies and slapping a Warmoth neck on it...

Yup. The maple bodies ones are heavy too. His yellow tiger striped one isn't a Kramer though. The red/yellow Tiger is but is poplar. Both of these tigers have strat-style headstocks. All of his banana heads are ESP's. The original Kamikaze is maple. There is one maple bodied Baretta with a banana that he has/had.

Hey Bro! Bach hit the nail on the head w/ this one! You'd be lucky to get find one w/ a maple board on it though. Those usually end up in bidding wars and normally go pretty high. Kramer didn't make all that many Maple boarded guitars.

IMO, and I'm not just plugging one of Kramer forum bros either. Is talk to Warren from Southeast guitars. He does excellent work and are true to form of the pre 85 Kramer bodies. On top of that, some of them old Kramer bodies can pull $200 and be in pretty poor shape. If you can't find what you're looking for, I'd shoot him an email and work something out!

Speaking of Southeast Guitars, here's what ya do. Get one of those bodies from him, and then get a maple board KWS neck from Warmoth with a reverse headstock. Load it up with the DD and you're in Lynch heaven.

The 86 Retta is my favorite one. I like the curves on it a lot better than the 84 Retta. But remember, a lot of his guitars were Charvels or ESPs.

i really just want a maple strat type with a floyd that when i put in a DD will do mr scary riffs very SCARY like!

my lone star is alder and comes real close but does not have that george L bite!

IIRC the yellow Bengal was a Boogie body with a Charvel neck? Too lazy to double-check.

It's a Mighty Mite body with a Boogie neck and then later a Charvel and then a Kramer and then the original Boogie again.

yeah my bud will buy the lone star once i get my super strat
the lone star kicks some serious a$$ but does not have a floyd which gives a more aggressive tone.
I could have a OFR put on it but i think i want to go with two buckers like on the pacer or a ESP M-II.

i may just buy this bad boy new if the kramer thing gets too complicated?

I really like these! they come stock with a JB/59 which is cool by me

IF i am not mistaken this is basically just like a pacer imperial?

nah it is alder but it has the OFR and two buckers which i want
and it has those taller than hell frets

There was a M-II up last week on Ebay. Can't remember if it sold or not.

Ya know, I'm almost not sure about my own Kramer anymore...LOL. I've always believed it was maple because it is so damn heavy but it could be alder too. The problem with believing it could be alder is the weight. I've never played a really heavy alder guitar. Both my strats are alder and aren't that heavy at all. Guess I need to pop the neck off next time I change strings to be sure.

Erik. Being as it's an 88, I'd almost bet it's either alder or poplar. They used so dam much poly on them guitars, especially the grapic models, that it really added alot of weight to them. From what I understand, maple wasn't used all that often after 86. That's about the time the figured tops really started coming into play and it shot the price of maple up quite a bit.
