So my rig has a little bit too much hiss and hum. THe feedback is a little bit much also so I'm looking for a noise reduction unit to help me but I dont want it to squash my tone. Here is what I'm playing through..... Jackson sl2h, dxmg (jb), dk2 (jb, hotrails) ----crybaby---ibanez delay/echo-----boss ge7 equilizer-----peavey xxl stack (ibanez chorus/flanger in effects loop)
I had a noise gate at one time, it was on a multi effects unit, but I dont want that much kill. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Thanx guys

For the money, you can't get any better than the Boss NS-2, it's one great pedal.

Ditto

Sure you can Email Derek at and ask about the ISP Decimator. It works better than the Boss.

Actually I own one right now and I feel a bit of seller's remorse after selling the NS-2 to fund it. I didn't notice any coloration at all, they both cut out about the same amount of noise and the NS-2 is around $40 cheaper.

Im going to agree with some of the others and say get a Boss Ns-2. Ive been using one for about 2 years and love it. I dont think ill ever use any other noise gate.

NS-2, but set it up to isolate the amps preamp, like I do. Works 10x better than before!
Guitar (or before-amp effects) into NS-2's input.
NS-2's 'Send' to the input of the amp
Amps FX loop 'send' (or effects in the loop) into the NS-2's 'return'
NS-2's output into amps FX 'return'

It basically places the amps preamp inside the NS-2's gate loop, which helps it cut down noise even better, without affecting tone as much, and you won't have to have the threshold so high. I also found that it doesn't kill my notes early when I'm using clean, a problem I had running it in the FX loop.

Humm.. hiss ...noise ?

Before spending cash.. try :

1- try to find the HUM/HISS source, by removing each component of the chain first.
2- check your cables : do you use cheap 10$ 20quot; cables ?

I cant see how you can get such hum/hiss out of such simple setup. Check my setup in my signature, and I dont have ANY hum/hiss at all!

Thames, I think hiss/hum is synonymous with high gain .

I gotta try that. I heard other folks doing it with good results too.

Hi gain amps ane pre-amps are noisy. Just comes with the territory. Especially if you run other OD Pedals/Effects through them!

Well.. my friend has a MINT NS-2 for sale if you want one... 45$ shipped!

Then why don´t I have problems? And I don´t even use a suppressor except live, and even ther only when absolutely necessary

Really? I find that amazing...I've always gotten hiss/hum/buzz using high gain, no matter what amp or pedals I was playing.

You didn´t think the quot;...in a Nice, Quiet Rig quot; was referring to VOLUME all these years, did you?
