Hey Guys.
I got this guitar off a friend, who is a professional Jazz musician.
- the finish has been completely removed
- the guitar is neck-though-body
- the centre section is hard rock maple
- the wings on either side are soft maple
- The pickups are good humbuckers (don't know what kind)
- the tuners, bridge and tailpiece are Gotoh.
- (Handbuilt???) in the early 1980s
- Thick rosewood board, and medium frets
My friend also hooked me up with a pretty cool-looking case.
I need to finish this guitar. If you have experience with finishing please check out my other thread: from : localhost//forum/showthread.php?t=38120
The guitar plays and sustains really nicely. The action is low and there is no buzz anywhere. I need to replace the pots and all the wiring, as they are in poor condition.
PICS:
Anybody like?
Thanks,
FR
Pics don't work for me, bro.
Should be kewl now
Oh wow...I actually really like that for some reason! It just looks like it would play really nice.
I like it alot man. The neck is thin - like an Ibanez or something. But it's wide at the same time. I think its 1 11/16 at the nut. The board is also not very curvy - its similar to playing a flat board guitar - like a John Petrucci music man. This makes bending a little harder. The guitar has a bright tone but its not ice picky - sounds just fine to my ears. I'm going to put 9 - 46 strings on it and practice my picking skills.
It would be nice if I was to finish it in midnight blue laquer, but I have no idea how to do laquers. So I think i'll just oil it, and let it stay natural.
Oh BTW, It cost me $275 canadian with the hardshell case, which is a grrrrrrreat price. So I have to thank my friend next time I see him. This used to be his #1 guitar, before he became a guitar dealer and got a coupla high-priced les pauls.
Is that a Solo-1?

I can't find anything on their site, that resembles this one...

You're in good hands, IIRC Adrian Smith plays a Lado.
You won't find it on thier site,it's an older piece.you may be able to call Joe to get the details, but he can be a little ...........'funny' with phone calls and visits.

Played ... you never see him with it anymore ... same with Steve Harris (had a bass made).
Apparently Lado keeps a similar duplicate of Adrian's guitar in the 'vault'. If I had the time I'd go check it out considering they're made 45 minute's drive from me
Oh, man! That is a nice guitar. I love the looks of it. If it plays and sounds as cool as it looks, you gotta killer on your hands!
That is deffinately a nice piece.
ive always wanted a lado... ever since seeing Adrian Smiths Earth in the clip for two minutes to midnight... though im more partial to a model they have called a Golden Wing..
but id kill for the axe that you have
**** man..you got a lado? awesome! how much did ya pay for it? i'd kill for a lado earth
Very nice axe man, but what's with the extra output jack?
The extra output jack?? I love the natural finish on that, looks like it'd be a dream to play..
you got it for roughly $300??????
DUDE!! they dont go under 1k wow..very nice
Lado are very nice guitar... underrated if known....
Nice score... keep it natural!
if it's raw, I would tung oil finish it though.
Neat piece, I am not familiar with Lado, a Canadian company?
