would it make a difference in sound if you changed the VOLUME pot on a guitar? if so, how?

i have a les paul with 300k volume and tone pots at the moment, and im planning to swap the tone pots to 500k. is it a good idea to leave the 300k volume pots or should i change them to 500k as well?

Your LP Studio should have 500k tone pots and 300k volume pots. I always change out the pots in my LPs pretty quick. This last weekend I re-potted 2 LPs with CTS 500k pots and sprague orange drop caps. It cost just over $20 a guitar and the difference in presence and clarity are fairly dramatic. I find 300k pots make my tone too dark and muffled sounding.

Change them all out and get some deceint caps as well.
