is it as bad as everyone says? does it sound bad at high volumes, anyone that has input on the clean channel please do tell.. is it good or bad or what?
It's alright. It's nothing insane, but it works. With a nice reverb and chorus, it can sound very nice.
It's not like you're going to record with it or anything, though.
Actually, I kind of liked it.
I only played with it for a couple of hours, but it wasn't bad at all for a high gain beastie.
I played the clean and crunch channels in a store, and the clean is mediocre or so (for tube amps). The crunch chan is great if you use a little drive in your cleans.
Very few amps do good distortion and good clean at the same time.
Maybe somebody should invent a 'clean' pedal

Now that'd be interesting...
the XXX has a pretty good clean channel (IMO) for a high-gain amp. Not perfect, but useable, and it can definately sound good.
I really dig the clean channel on my Krank...Thing is ULTRA clean
Dull.
Completely useable, but fairly characterless to my ears.

A Budda does but I don`t know if you`d call it High Gain.

That's sort of my impression too. I've played on one a few times and I like it, quite a bit. In fact, I'd love to have one! The distortion is very nice, from rock to staright out high gain metal madness. The clean channel was totally decent, but nothing to write home to mom about.
