im lookin for very deep chorus sounds in a pedal.no need for flange sounds, just plain and deep chorus.dont care much for vibrato either.
the major problem for me is that there are too many offers today from MXR,EH and Boss.
i wanna play sounds from the police to ozzy to get the ideia.
my old rocktron intelifex rack was deep enough but kinda wierd and digital sounding.
the ones that i read about on harmony central:

EH Stereo PolyChorus $204
EH Small Clone $79
Boss CE-20 for $179
Fulltone Choralflange $265
MXR 134 Stereo Chorus $167

so there ya have it FIVE good oferings and no ideia on which to choose.

ups forgot to mention that im not lookin for the classic Boss CE-1 sound, need to go DEEPER.

I've got the Small Clone and I'm really happy with it. At first I was about to get the Boss, but the sound wasn't deep enough - just as you said. I also tested the digitech, but it's nothing compared to the Small Clone.
The only drawback is the depth switch. Both settings are wisely chosen but I'm rather a quot;I want everything under my fingersquot; guy, so with a little bit modding I installed a depth pot and now everythings fine

The CE-20 is very nice. In particular, any dual clock stereo chorus should do the trick for you. I think line 6 has a new quot;Space Chorusquot; in a simple stompbox format that emulates any chorus known to man, so you might want to give that a try.

If you can find one, the old Peavey Dual Clock chorus was absolutely amazing. The thickest, deepest chorus i've ever used. They are hot pink in color (80's ) and they do show up on ebay from time to time. But they are pretty rare.

Also, the old Boss quot;Dimensionquot; pedals were very lusious and deep sounding, but that was all they could do.

Good luck...

hey Grams which boss did you test?
how can one install this mod for a depth pot for the small clone?

kdawsoni never herd of this dual clock thing, since im in a country that over charges for the used market ill most likely go for the new ones. thanks man.
i heard samples of the mxr reissue but it sounded kinda thin...could be my pc spaeakers.the fulltone is too much as i already own a ross flanger.

I have to say that I love my old Boss CE. Have tried many others and have always come back to it.

if yur talkin about the ce-1 i love it too but honestly dosen t fill my bag.im more into roland jazz chorus type and late ozzy/zack wilde sounds.
seems that randy roads used the mxr chorus(old version).and the reissue has a sample withof zack playing dirty stuff with it.
can the small clone get there without the mod pot?

I thought that the CE-1 was exactly the same circuit that was used on Roland Jazz Chorus amps?

could be but they dont go that deep, and thats for sure

deep chorus? stick two boss CE series pedals in series

i have a CE-2B - its a bass chorus, but this mostly means it has an effect mix knob.. very versatile sound, and i picked up broken for a fiver

not a bad ideia at all Imp !!!
yur boss ce-2b sureis sweet and very UNDERATED by guitarists but im stuck down to new pedals...
im gonna discharge the fulltone as it is too much$$$ and the boss ce-20 as well since it replicates the classic sounds im not after.
im in between the clone chorus and the MXR ressue one.
tough choice

i dunno, i think the MXR is very expensive for a single pedal (in the UK, anyway..) and the CE-20 does a lot more than the vintage stuff.. i'd be looking at the CE-20 if it was me in your shoes, i have heard reports from a friend that engaging the small clone produces a noticeable volume drop.. easily modded out, but it's effort

Well Zakk used a Boss CH-1 Super Chorus for years and later switched to a Boss CE-5 Chorus Ensemble. Nowadays he's using an MXR Chorus. He always used the CH-1 and the CE-5 in stereo. Most people pass on these Boss choruses and say they don't sound good but they're really not aware that these pedals really shine on stereo modes! Where do you think Zakk is getting that ''huge'' wall of sound? Two amps plugged into a stereo Boss CH-1 or CE-5.

Try out a TC Electronic, EH, or check Ebay for Chorus pedals and see what comes up.

I have a Fulltone Choralflange, which is a pretty cool pedal, but it's not what you're looking for. The chorus is not deep at all.....it's very subtle.

I'm pretty sure that is right.

Well, you may not be wanting to hear about the Boss Chorus, but that's the best remote unit that I've EVER heard. DOD made a fair one, and Roland had an excellent chorus in their tape delay systems, but those are getting old and noone wants to maintain them. Digitech's Chorus are on the same par as DOD (go figure, they come from the same place), you might try those.

Yup. I was amazed at how good my CH-1 sounded when hooked up in stereo to two little 15 watt combos. Very nice sounding. Even better since I modded it to make it sound a little warmer. Just changed 1 cap to a larger value and it thickened it right up.

If I had a choice, I'd pick the MXR. I've always liked that unit.

I'm surprised that there has been no mention of the discontinued Arion SCH-1 or the newer SCH-Z. I have the SCH-1 and it goes from mild to wild, can be used in stereo or send a dry signal and a chorused signal, plays well with other pedals and shines with dist/overdrive. Check it out on Harmony Central. Great bang for buck pedal.

I recently got the MXR 134 and I think it's great.
