Ok guys...I have tons of OD boxes but I need another one! What I need is to turn my Fender Twin Reverb in to a 2 channel amp by use of a dirt box. I need a box that can be pretty transparent if I want it to be. It also has to have a fair amount of gain (not metal crunch...I have other ways of doing that), Im not looking for a booster (but if it has a boost feature that is ok too!). True bypass is a huge plus, as is flexability. At this point I am thinking about a Fulldrive 2...it has the option of having flat mids or not, plus as far as I have heard/read it is pretty transparent sounding. Does anybody think this is a good or bad choice...or does anybody have anyother ideas?

Thanks

I recently played the tonebone hot british and the tonebone classic through a twin, and that was the impression I got-a 2 channel amp. These pedals are hot, and completely change the tone of your fender amp and put it into Marshall land. They have varying mid functions too, but I forget what Tonebone calls them.

I'd probably get a Banzai Fireball II. I've had both the Coldfusion and Fireball II, and the Fireball has it all. The CF is fatter, but the FB has internal dipswitches and has more teeth to the tone than the Fulltone Fulldrive II. Ask Marin how he likes his.

T. Rex makes amazing stuff too. For what you want, the 'Dr. Swamp' looks killer.

Whatever you do, I suggest you try a bunch of pedals before buying anything. In my experience, Twins can be fairly picky when it comes to overdrive pedals.
Personally, I'm not a fan of the FD2. You could check out the Barber Tone Pump or Burn Unit, depending on how much drive you want. Those are about as transparent as they come, and seem to work well with just about everything.

what are the dipswitches for?

For flexibility, I thoroughly recommend the G2D custom OD. Twin settings, giving you two flavours of od. Nice and transparent on low gain settings, and will handle anything up to old-school metal on high gain settings. If you want high quality do-anyhting pedal, this is it. True bypass, boutique quality. Able to withstand 200ml of heineken spilt directly into the pots.

I'm a pretty big fan of the Tone Bone pedals, haven't played one I haven't liked They really transform your amp into a gain monster and the knobs and switches make a big difference in tweaking the shape of the distortion. I've yet to find a pedal as effective, but I'm always on the search.

Sounds like the Fulltone OCD might be along the lines of what your looking for. I'm so digging my OCD that it's boarding on obsession. Hence the pedal name I guess.
It goes from lite gain for great blues tones, to crisp clear higher gain settings that ROCK solid. Just about every setting I've tried on this pedal has had some sort of useful tone application. Check out the sound samples on the Fulltone site.

So many options!
I'm going to say FULLTONE, even tho it's not a popular choice at the moment.

Check out the Xotic AC and RC Booster. For what you want, you'll probly want the AC. I just ordered the RC to use as a good clean boost.

from : localhost/Even though quot;boostquot; is in the name of the pedal, you should still check it out!

I'm not sure what the Fireball's dipswitches do exactly, since I never tampered with them. There's one on Ebay now for only $175, since they normally go for $229.
Sometimes, I wish I worked for Guitar Player magazine and could do a shootout of all the ones mentioned in this thread. That OCD sounds tempting! All of them are good, but they'll all have a slightly different flavor, which you won't know if you like till you try them. I'm notorious for taking advantage of retailer's exchange policy.
Splash Sound, an Ebay store, is also a local LA boutique store. I've swapped many a pedal from them! LOL For me, the Klon Centaur ended my search, but it's not the be all end all for everyone. I can't even believe that I saw one like mine on Ebay, used, for almost $400. Crazy!

Drop the guys a line, they'll be only too happy to give you a quote. Musictoyz will have a price on their site, too, but I recommend buying direct.

When push comes to shove, it really depends on what sounds good to you.
I would love to hear all of these suggestions backed up with sound clips, tho.

exactly the pedal I use. Coincidentally on exactly the amp used in the sound clips on the G2D page. I got the Twin they had after the changed to a Concert...

Great pedal for a Twin.

another vote for the Xotic AC booster - the best OD/boost pedal I've ever tried out. Transparent and rich.

Thanks guys...keep 'em comming!
